The best place in the UK for honeymoon, scenic view of Ely Cathedal from the yard of hotel, and fireplace is usable!!

I had my 50th birthday party on the 1st November 2025 absolutely beautiful venue & hotel and to top it off we got to see Ely cathedral fireworks from the beautiful grounds of Old Ely hall. memories i will never forget. Thank you for having us xxx

Another lovely stay at Old Hall Ely. Amazing building. Stayed in a different room to previous stays. Couple of maintenance issues, cld be easily rectified. Slight disappointment, no toiletries to take away, can understand environment issues but at this price range wld be nice to have some perks Beautiful bedding. Very comfortable couple nights. Superb cooked breakfast. No restaurant option on both our evenings. Tried the charcuterie boards one evening, was more than adequate. Sitting by the beautiful log fires throughout the hall. A car a must as need to go out and about, unless working or happy to sit and read all day. Took the opportunity to Christmas shop in nearby Cambridge and Bury st Edmund’s. Staff really friendly.

Beautiful building set in wonderful grounds. We went for a family wedding. It is a wedding machine. It really does feel like ‘one in, one out’. Breakfast finishes at 9.00am. Continental is poor. Issues with maintenance. Broken taps, leaking taps, sink plug hole stuck. Broken blinds, etc. Very dated decor, it felt more like a retirement home. Main rooms in the house are stunning. So a bit of a mixed bag. Better maintenance and a makeover of some of the guest rooms would be beneficial. On the whole the staff were very friendly and professional.

Got taken here for the first time for my birthday treat. The experience was beyond expectations! The venue is beautiful and we were looked after, superbly, by our Hostess ( Charlie) nothing was too much trouble and she combined discreet service with attentiveness perfectly. Our food was sublime, there is obviously a very talented Chef in residence! I can’t believe we have such a special place in our small City, I will definitely be bringing friends here.

We went as a family of four for a Sunday lunch. The food was amazing, service from Emma was excellent too. The pork was beautifully cooked, and everything was cooked from fresh, ( no Aunt Bessies here! ). I will definitely come again, and highly recommend to others.

An amazing time in a fantastic hotel. We've stayed in some nice hotels in our time, but this is probably the best so far. From the the moment you turn off the A142 into the drive you know your in for a treat. Everything is exceptionally clean, tidy and detailed. We stayed in the swan room (room 17) which was exceptional, very comfortable bed, roll top bath (to keep the wife happy) and a separate shower. Evening meal was brilliant, a very good menu although we both decided to go for the steak on the night which was the nights special and it was outstanding, the best steak I've had in a long while. Breakfast was very nice, especially the fresh pain au chocolate and croissants. We can't wait to return for our wedding anniversary, a special night in a very special hotel. Keep up the good work, well done everyone.

A very old building , beautifully renovated. A thoroughly enjoyable short break to celebrate my pre -birthday. Stunning bedrooms and grounds. Staff attentive. Ask for a room at the back, facing the extensive gardens, to avoid traffic noise.
