The best place in the UK for honeymoon, scenic view of Ely Cathedal from the yard of hotel, and fireplace is usable!!

An amazing time in a fantastic hotel. We've stayed in some nice hotels in our time, but this is probably the best so far. From the the moment you turn off the A142 into the drive you know your in for a treat. Everything is exceptionally clean, tidy and detailed. We stayed in the swan room (room 17) which was exceptional, very comfortable bed, roll top bath (to keep the wife happy) and a separate shower. Evening meal was brilliant, a very good menu although we both decided to go for the steak on the night which was the nights special and it was outstanding, the best steak I've had in a long while. Breakfast was very nice, especially the fresh pain au chocolate and croissants. We can't wait to return for our wedding anniversary, a special night in a very special hotel. Keep up the good work, well done everyone.

A very old building , beautifully renovated. A thoroughly enjoyable short break to celebrate my pre -birthday. Stunning bedrooms and grounds. Staff attentive. Ask for a room at the back, facing the extensive gardens, to avoid traffic noise.

The welcome was all you could ask for. The rooms are spacious, spotless and have magnificent views. The gardens are impressive and a lovely place to have a drink whilst taking in the surroundings. All in all a special place and would have no hesitation in recommending a stay.

Amazing venue and the staff could not be more helpful. We hired the lakes room for our family function with afternoon tea and we throughly enjoyed our day. The staff did everything they could to accommodate us and we will certainly be returning. Thank you to everyone at Old Hall Ely.

For our anniversary, my wife and I recently visited Ely. We spent a lovely 4 nights at The Old Hall and can confirm its reputation as an idyllic family run hotel. The building itself is has been lovingly restored and sits in beautiful grounds, surrounded by country side. It is sited for easy travelling to various places on the visitors trail. Our en-suite room was delightful, with a clear view of Ely cathedral just 2 miles away. All the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Breakfast choices were plentiful and of good quality. The Orangery restaurant is only open on certain days but we did enjoy a lovely dinner there on our last night. All in all we can highly recommend that you stay here on your visit to Ely. As an aside Oliver Cromwell’s mother was born here when it was a farm house.

I want to give a fair review so… The hotel is amazing, the staff welcoming and happy to help. The food was good and the rooms, shared lounges and dining areas immaculate. HOWEVER, be careful when booking your room. The website suggests that both classic and deluxe rooms ‘..have great views of our grounds’ and this is most definitely not the case. Our room was in an annexe away from the main house and only reached by walking through an outdoor courtyard. (At no point was this mentioned prior to arrival or anywhere on the website). The view was of the car park and service area, not of the beautiful grounds. Additionally the hotel sits in its grounds in a dip just off the busy A142 road - this road can be heard from our room 24/7 and from wherever you are when in the grounds - not at all ‘tranquil and peaceful’. A real shame for what otherwise was a great stay.

What a beautiful place! Outstanding hotel set in amazing gardens overlooking Ely Cathedral. Our third visit, and our room on the second floor with balcony had a spectacular view over the lakes and gardens. Spotless with every amenity you would want. All staff, including the gardeners, were welcoming and helpful - special mention of Lewis. We had breakfast each day - high quality food with excellent selection. We hope to return soon.
