Hotel Kronenschlösschen
4.4/528 Reviews
We recently returned from two nights in a superior double room at the Hotel Kronenschlosschen. Having escaped from a really poor hotel elsewhere, this place felt like heaven, particularly as we sampled the food first. That lunch, on the terrace overlooking the glorious garden, convinced us that this was the hotel for us and luckily they had space. What they forgot to tell us was that they had two wedding receptions on the Saturday night and because of staff issues could not carry out ordinary restaurant service. However, wonderfully, we were able to eat from the menu of one of the weddings and outstandingly tasty and attractively presented that food was. We expected a lot of noise from the parties (as per an English wedding) but both were restrained events that allowed us to sleep peacefully. Our room, 25 on the second floor, was charming, comfortable and most importantly and unlike our previous hotel, had a fan, making sleep possible. No A/C because of the age of the building, which was in itself a lovely feature, particularly the carved wooden staircase (no lift). My husband particularly enjoyed the 'Olympic quantity' of sherry supplied and re-filled in our room. All staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and charming, speaking excellent English. Apart from lack of air conditioning, the only other downside to this lovely hotel is the main road running alongside. We could hear the swish of traffic at night with windows open but it did not disturb us. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.
Parkhotel Sonnenberg
4.2/512 Reviews
The hotel is located in the middle of a residential area; to the centre of the city and to the shores it is 10-15 minutes walk. The room (with tape floor) is clean and has a good size. The bathroom is a little bit small but useful. Breakfast is absolutely overpriced. Corona is a buffet where there is already in small cups sauce/ cheese or breads in baskets or cups each. Unfortunately, the breads and croissants were not fresh. The service at which you can order coffee and co was very nice. The coffee was ok, unfortunately not to enjoy the cappuccino. Overall the formal requirements of a 4-star hotel are probably present, but it doesn't feel like that.
Hotel Kloster Eberbach

Rheingau is my second home so it’s not my first time at the Kloster Eberbach Hotel. I heard while making a reservation that management changed in the hotel and honestly I had my doubts... these lasted till I stayed there last time. They made many improvements! Rooms have key cards, nicer amenities, more attention to the guests (including to my furry friend) and the restaurant is also better. The reception team also took their time to recommend me a nice tour around the museum. Also loved the “Wine Garden”! Such a nice way to spend a sunny afternoon! Yes... corona times are hard for many but they manage to make my day better even while maintaining social distance. I will for sure come back soon to see what else they improve! Well done!
