Misty Hills Ella Resort

Keeping in mind this is a 3 star hotel, the positives are the rooms are big with a balcony looking out at amazing views (ours anyway), and the pool is clean and quite big also with amazing views and a concrete elephant water feature!!! The location of the hotel is pretty good too - far enough from other properties to be quiet but close enough to Ella main drag that you can walk in 10-15 minutes or pay a tuk tuk driver double the rate of Colombo to get to and from. The big negative for us was that despite being told upon checking in that the room would be cleaned every day, it was not. And I was told the reason why was that we didn’t hand in our key for it to be done - which seems bizarre after staying in hotels for decades and not being told to or having to hand in a key in order to get a standard daily room clean. The insinuation that it was our fault for not handing in a key (not that we were told to do so on checking in) was extremely irritating. Food was ok but overpriced so we ate elsewhere (lots of options). There were lots of little things in the rooms that could be easily addressed to make them nicer - definitely not having ripped old bath towels, and removing an empty TV bracket from the wall (like a TV used to be there but not anymore - or was it just our room, who knows). All these little things add up to I really think the room rate is too high - but we are here in the high season so maybe that’s just the going rate.

An excellent location in the heart of the mountains, offering breathtaking views. The city is around 15 mins from the resort and it's very lively with plenty of options for food and having an evening stroll. Transportation with tuk tuk is available at ease. The staff was very friendly and it has a nice infinity pool.

Amazing views from our room! The rooms were spacious with a table and chairs and couch (we had two deluxe rooms for our family). Good air conditioning and comfortable beds. The swimming pool was superb also with amazing views. The breakfast was good. It's about a 10 min walk up the hill to Ella or just catch a tuk tuk. We stayed 3 nights and would definitely stay here again.

The most outstanding view in Ella along with the most friendly and happy staff! We couldn’t believe our luck when we arrived at Misty Hills. Greeted by the manager and owner quite late, they were so accommodating and welcoming. We had the most beautiful room with a bed that was so comfortable we didn’t want to leave! The food here is outstanding! If you want traditional Sri Lankan food, this is the place. Everything we ate was delicious. I cannot thank the staff enough, so lovely. But the view is the star of the show!!! Breathtaking!

Hotel situated just off the main road. It was fabulous stay. recently done lot of renovations. comfortable bed. beautiful sun rice in the morning. very good service. very good breakfast. Good looking pool. unfortunately we had no time to dip.
