Econo Lodge Elk City

Stayed here twice coming and going out West. The only reason we came back the second time was for the comfortable beds. There was nobody in the office, but when you opened the door it chimed to let the owners know someone was there. We had a reservation, but I had to ask for the specific room type that i wanted. It took quite a while to check in, but the guy was pleasant. I did appreciate the guy went to check the room to see if it was OK, but then again I DID have a reservation, so he had all day to check on this...so more waiting. We had asked for an outside facing room, but ended up in the inner courtyard, which was really dark and dreary since you had no outside view. There were nice palm trees and greenery with seating and games like shuffle board and pool around the area, but it did make it a bit noisy. The room was huge, but the carpets were absolutely filthy! Our feet were so black that we had to wash them twice to get the oily black stuff off. It was really gross!! There was a fridge and microwave, but they weren't very clean. The TV worked, but it was annoying because it wasn't programmed, and with all the subchannels it was near impossible to find anything to watch. The beds here were about the most comfortable of our whole trip, (including the more expensive hotels) which is why we came back, ! Too bad they don't spend a little more to clean the rooms, and bring them up to a decent standard.. The sheets have stains on them, and the key cards are from the old Ambassador Hotel, which I assume is what it was before it was Econo Lodge. There was no breakfast here, not even granola bars to take. We left the second time, and there was nobody around. We rang the bell and waited and waited, but nobody came. We finally left a note that we were leaving and left the keys in the room. And we left a note that we had no facecloths in the room, so they wouldn't think we stole them! We might come back for the beds, but that's the only positive.
