At Malibu Popoyo, my family and I found our perfect getaway spot! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the impeccable cleanliness and the warm hospitality. The rooms were not only modern but also incredibly cozy, equipped with everything we could possibly need. Oh, and let's not forget about the amazing restaurant – it exceeded all our expectations! And as for the location, it was simply unbeatable. My kids couldn't get enough of the pool and the beautiful beach right at our doorstep. We truly couldn't have asked for a better stay!

We absolutely loved our stay. From the surf, to the food to the smoothies, to the staff to the comfy beds, Malibu is a gem. Everything supported out surf journey which is exactly what we wanted from our visit. Extra special props to our surf guru Evan RM who was above and beyond. If you want to elevate your surfing at any level, have a lesson with Evan. He’s truly an exceptional human.

Malibu Popoyo is a beautiful hotel. We enjoyed our time here. The food was good, the pool was great, and the room was spacious and clean. However, Malibu Popoyo really struggles with communication and clarity. There was a lot of confusion for us and other guests of what was and wasn't included in meal plan. We were able to get it sorted out but this is an issue. Other guests talked about this as well. Also, the menu was pretty limited. Also, when emailing with them, it would sometimes take me following up a couple times for a response and I was getting different answers from different staff.

Absolutely 100% recommend and hope to return soon. Everything was exceptional, from the responsiveness of emailing/setting up hotel transfers to airport, to an easy and informative check-in, EXCELLENT surf guiding, AMAZING food, literally EVERYTHING was perfect. Love you Malibu Popoyo!

This was the perfect place to spend the last 4 days of our 3 week trip around the beautiful country of Nicaragua. We were looking for somewhere to rest our weary legs and to unpack the rucksacks. We found it at The Malibu Popoyo. This place has something very special about it. The vibe is super relaxed, friendly, and happy. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff who go out of their way to make sure you have the best time. Our room was divine. A little oasis of calm with a dreamy shower, a comfy bed, ceiling fan, or A/C and great design. We were on an All Inclusive package, which was a great deal. The food is fabulous; fresh, healthy, and varied. You won't go hungry! Daily yoga sessions were wonderful with Ayni, who has a beautiful soul. Two of our party paid for surf lessons with Evan who is a fabulous teacher; kind, patient and inspiring. So much so that they are already planning their next surf holiday. Special mentions also go to Felix, the super-talented cocktail (and hot sauce) maker, Christina & Anna who made all our meals so much fun, Flavia & Haddi who run front desk and do everything with a smile. And all the staff behind the scenes who make this such a special place.

We had an amazing experience at Malibu Popoyo. Everything from the guiding, to the food and service, was well planned and thoughtful. We explored a few items outside of the resort like Grenada and the volcano, but the the farm tour with Eliezer was the highlight. As well as the surfing of course. Given the small number of rooms, this was an intimate experience, we loved that we could personalize each day and go at our own pace. Special thank you to Ernesto, Flavia, Haddi, Elyin, Ayni, Jennifer, Felix, Christina, Anna, Dani, Selena, Helena, Giancarlo, Francisco, Alba, Israel, Alex, Aurelio, Alexis, Evan, and Martin. This was an incredible experience and we loved our time in Nicaragua!

I came to this little gem as part of a yoga retreat group. However, its easy to review the hotel and services independently of that. You have to kind of know this place exists, but once you have been, you'll dream about it. The sense of ease, and that nothing is rushed, and that everything you need (if not want) can be taken care of put me in a very peaceful and relaxed state. If not for the incredible beach 25 yards away I don't know if I would have had need to leave the property, despite its intimate size. We toured the farm that provides most of their food and it was incredibly impressive. Their commitment to sustainability is commendable for the level of comfort they are able to provide. From the managers to the activities staff, masseuses, cooks and servers, I felt cared for, that I was important to them, and they would do anything within their power to make my stay better. Its a 5 star level of service in what could easily be a 4 star resort if not for the constant extra attention to the condition of the grounds, the quality and care given to the food, and to the health and safety of their guests. There was really nothing better than ordering a Tona beer and sitting poolside for an afternoon of doing nothing. So many reviewers talk about Malibu Popoyo as a surf retreat. Because of where it is and the quality of their instructors, you might think that's all it was. But I'm not a surfer, and I can tell you I had a really nice time even without that as an incentive. If you're the significant other of a surfer, you're going to have a very nice time even if you don't take a lesson, I promise. I considered rating 4 instead of 5 for a couple of reasons: 1) the level of accommodation, service were wonderful considering the location, remoteness, and so on. But this is not a first world country, and so things like plumbing, electricity, and the like are not guaranteed. I think Malibu Popoyo does an AMAZING job keeping the sheets clean, the rooms beautiful and comfortable, and the air conditioning on 99.9% of the time. But that .1%, you're going to need to understand that some things are out of their control. You can't expect the Ritz. But boy do they try.

We had a fantastic 7 nights at Malibu Popoyo, with 6 day’s surfing for the whole family. Malibu Popoyo had just the right vibe for us, with friendly helpful staff, fresh and healthy food in comforting and relaxing surroundings. I surfed twice a day, except for the afternoon we went horse riding instead, and all the family progressed their surfing over the week at a pace that worked for them. My highlight was a sunset surf on our last day with my daughter. Hopefully we will make it back someday!

The team at Malibu knocked our recent surf vacation out of the park! First off the surf guides Dylan and Jared were incredibly knowledgable and happy to get us in the water as much as possible. The hotel had a great layout with excellent rooms and a great garden and pool area. The staff were fantastic and very accomadating, especially with the dining. The food was freshly prepared and they were happy to work with my dietary restrictions. All the staff were friendly, helpful, and hard working. We normally do not repeat trips very often, but we will likely be going back to Malibu Popoyo once a year.
