Before going I had read reviews and thought the bad reviews were just of very picky people and those who just love to complain but all the negative reviews were so very accurate. I’ve been to Dominican 6 times and have always loved my experience. This place is an absolute disaster. All 8 of us who went, weren’t very pleased. For 7 days my boyfriend and I had a room with no AC despite it being set to 15 degrees it was barely cold, we had maintenance come 6 times to fix and still nothing. We were told there were no rooms available to switch when we could clearly see many rooms vacant by the outside of the rooms when walking around. They compensated us for 2 25 minute massages but was just a slap in the face as it wasn’t good enough for what we went through trying to sleep in a very hot room. Waited forever and a day to get a drink. The bars stated opening at 10:00am but was well into after 10:30am before anyone would serve you, the service was VERY SLOW. Unless you had money in hand for a tip, you’d be waiting a long time. Staff aren’t friendly at all. The only staff we had that were super phenomenal was Francesco at the On The Grill restaurant and 2 men who I am not sure of their names at the Japanese restaurant. The Mexican restaurant was horrible as there is no AC and it’s over the top hot, so waiting for food is a nightmare, plus food wasn’t good. I got severely sick the last 2 days with the most server diaherra I have ever had in my life and cried with the pain. Food is okay.. lots of options which was a positive. The maid service. Terrible. We had to run around trying to find bath towels and face cloths daily even when we left numerous gifts and high amount of tips every day. Some days we even had to use our beach towels to dry off after we showered. Our door to the room was moldy and all cracked up. Hard to get in and out all the time. Renovations going on until late at night. We spoke to concierge about the renovations being late in the night and they said “our renovations stop at 5pm because of outside workers coming in and having to leave premises by then” so we took a video at 6:35pm with very loud noises from a Jack hammer going and also another video at 11:00pm to show this is not the case. They are doing big renovations on the premium pool so the pool outside our building which was building 25 was supposed to be for non premium was made into a premium pool so we were not allowed to use this, very unfair. I could go on and on. My boyfriend’s first trip to Dominican and it definitely has turned him from ever going again. This place needs a major overall for absolutely everything!! I would NEVER EVER recommend and would never return. Our plane home was a lot of people who went to the resort and all you could hear was complaints of their bad experience too!

The hotel is located in a great spot, with access to numerous restaurants/bars within a 10 mins walk’s reach. The area is also relatively safe especially on the beach. I would avoid walking around after 1 am as a tourist. The included breakfast was delicious every day and showcased well the country’s culinary expertise. The Bavaro beach right next door is absolutely beautiful with the typical Caribbean beach colors! The staff was very helpful, approachable and down to earth during my stay. I did appreciate that my room was equipped with AC, but I did feel that my room was barebones and could have used hand soaps, body lotion, shampoo and a mini fridge, which is pretty standard in most hotels. Hotel cleanliness was great and I loved the ample amounts of seating areas located around each floor. Considering the affordability of the place, it was great value for money and did not disappoint!

Ok. First off I don't know how anyone could give Marcos and Magdelina anything but 5 stars. They are both fluent in Spanish, English and several other languages which made everything very easy. When I wanted to practice on my Spanish Marcos would speak with me in Spanish and when I wanted to speak in English we spoke in English. If you read the other reviews, some people were confused about where they were and reviewed this place in error. I was traveling solo in the Dominican Republic as a single woman and I was slightly worried before arriving, but the second I walked into the garden late at night to check in - all my fears melted away. The family was sitting having a casual conversation with guests and the kids were playing on the ping pong table. They welcomed me like family. The most gracious couple I have ever met. In addition to being met by Marcos and Magdalena I was also met by a friendly dog which made this feel even more like home. As far as my room went, everything was clean, very spacious, had air conditioning in the bedroom, a mini fridge and some snacks and drinks in the minibar. I settled in immediately. I also ate dinner there every night because the food was so amazing! They have four different menus to choose from, including Dominican food, Caribbean and even Polish food. All of which was absolutely delicious. The service was incredible and it was a true experience that I will never forget. I even got to play air hockey with the kiddos! I almost don't want to write this review because I'm afraid I won't be able to get a reservation when I return next year! Now let's address the fact that this is not an all-inclusive resort. This is a small bed and breakfast that is run by a family. They have a recycle mentality and everything they had is reused and repurposed and I love that vibe. If you are one that wants fancy and luxury or no culture, this probably isn't the place for you. If you're a solo traveler that wants to feel like you're part of a family 1000% recommend. I will return to see them many many times. ♥️
