Holiday Inn Express & Suites El Centro

My son and I needed to stay in El Centro for a night. There were mixed reviews for this hotel, but I chose it anyway because I am an IHG member and could use my points. Well, I am glad we did. We got in late and check in was super quick and smooth and pleasant (front desk person at desk on 06/30/22 at about 10:45 pm was awesome - named Lililia maybe?). We got a great room on the top floor as requested and they were able to give me a check out time that was a little later because the hotel was not full. Also we were going to have to be out (to work in the area) before breakfast and so they offered to make us a bagged breakfast; it was ready first thing as soon as we went down in the morning. The room was extremely clean with the usual toiletries and a pod-type coffee maker. It was quiet and comfortable with an AC that worked great. It is close to everything, including some fast food restaurants that came in handy for our late arrival. Parking is easy and very well lit so I felt comfortable leaving my car for the night. And yes, things are under construction but they are containing the mess and dust and it did not adversely impact our stay at all. Another thing that impressed me was that they really do read the notes for requests; when I double checked on the request for a top floor and late check out, they said oh yes we have your request, you are good to go! I need to stay in El Centro for about 10 nights over the next 6 months and will choose this hotel if it is the same or similar price to other same level hotels in the area (used most of my points for this stay); in other words, it will be my first choice from the top 5 rated Tripadvisor hotels as long as it is a similar price. Unfortunately that appears not to be the case for my next stay in the beginning of August, but I will keep checking to see if that changes. Thanks for a terrific visit with over-the-top service!!!
Best Western El Centro Inn

My family recently stayed at this hotel in room 110. When we entered the building there was a strong chemical smell. Not one that smelled like industrial cleaners. The smell was like wet dog, artificial lemon and oven cleaner. The smell got significantly worse when we opened the door to our room. We had 2 other families that were staying here with us & all had the exact overwhelming smell in their rooms. The next day we woke up to Valley Pest Services spraying pesticides along the walls and every doorway in the building; even while my family ate breakfast just 10 feet away. We have 2 kids under 6 and our 2 year old got sick and broke into a rash from whatever they were spraying; I assume bedbugs. I would NOT recommend staying here. While the rooms looked clean, I'm sure there's a lot being covered up. I reached out to management, Alex, twice without any sort of response.

Mr. Rajan Kanji is an amazing manager! I have traveled a lot, and this is one of the best motel experiences I've ever had. This is an amazing business. They really have their organization and customer attention in order. I am very impressed with the level of service and expertise, along with attention to detail. Thank you
Hampton Inn El Centro

I am staying in El Centro for one night once a month for the next few months and I am choosing hotels based on price and reviews - so trying to avoid staying in a place that is too dumpy. I am trying to stay in the top 6 Traveler Ranked on TripAdvisor. So, last time I stayed in the Holiday Inn because it was free with my points; it was a good stay. This time I chose Hampton Inn because it was about the same price as the others, a little less maybe, and was more highly rated (#3 of 18). It was better in most ways than the Holiday Inn (breakfast a little better, better located for my purposes and seemed a little cleaner esp. since there was no construction dust). The staff at both hotels were great. The beds in the Holiday Inn were more comfortable and the late check out time was a half an hour later which was helpful. But, for the same price I would likely choose the Hampton Inn again. For my next trip to El Centro in Sept., rates are crazy high apparently because it is the beginning of dove hunting season; the least expensive hotel is the Best Western which is ranked #6 out of 18; it is about $100 less for the night during that time. It gets mixed reviews, so we will see. If the Hampton Inn had a price even $50 a night more than the Best Western, I probably would have chosen the Hampton Inn. Anyway, the bottom line is, if the Hampton Inn is even close in price to the other top 6, it is a comfortable, clean, pleasant place to stay for a night or two.
