While the lounging and dining area was large and bright, the kitchen was tiny and poorly laid out. There was no way to have two groups prepare a meal at the same time, the sink was in the way of the fridge and the conduction cooktop did not respond to touch. One of the three days, we had no towels to wash or dry our dishes ( which were hand washed by the guests,poorly!) The bed was hard, lumpy and saggy. The bathrooms were adequately clean, but the air circulation was very poor if the door was shut between users as it often was. Their smells persisted for at least ten minutes after they left the room. The hallways and dining area was extremely echo-y. There was no way to carry on two conversations in the room at the same time. We arrived at the usual time guests would arrive - 2 other parties arrived while we were waiting - we had to ring up an employee who was off site and had to wait quite some time. We had the feeling this place was all about the owner making money and nothing else. They charge 5,000 ISK for one load of laundry! Our smaller room did not have information about the services in town but the larger rooms had all the usual information one would expect to welcome you into a new town. Despite the good breeze outside, the windows did not open enough to let enough air flow through to ventilate the rooms. We decided to leave the guesthouse one day early and forfeit the cost to get new accommodations.

This is the most cost-effective hotel all the way, about 10 minutes drive from the town, the room is very clean, the mountain view opposite is very beautiful, and breakfast, although there are not many types, but enough to eat, public baths and toilets, not crowded, overall satisfaction

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Great newer windows, roomy and warm. Staff did a great job and was very accommodating. We had dinner at the hotel and were very pleased with our choices. Nice breakfast buffet with a great selection.

This is a port in the eastern part of Iceland where you can wash your clothes! From the capital of western Iceland, it is just the middle point of travel. The clothes accumulated in a few days can be washed and dried before going to bed at night. Pay 1600 Icelandic coins (krona), use it casually. The one in front of me needs 4,000 Icelandic coins to wash once.

It belongs to a family hotel. When it arrives, the boss puts the key at the door and takes it by name. The door is the famous Rainbow Road, and there is a restaurant next to it, which is very convenient. We chased the aurora here. The staff at the restaurant next to us suggested that we drive out a little bit, and it is easy to see without lights. We drove out for five minutes and stopped on the side of the road. We took a picture in a while. It was not a busy trip.

I travelled 77 countries and I stayed many hotels but I can say that this hotel is my favorite!! We kept talking we are happy because we stay this hotel. and the hotel staff David was very kind and professional. He helped us and gave all the information we needed. Thank you David . Everything was perfect!! My mom was so happy to stay in this hotel. We rested so comfortably and relaxed . She calls this hotel ‘our best hotel’ :) Thank you for giving us this happy memory !!

Cabin No. 2, 701 Eiðar, near Egilsstadir. 12 miles and 20 minutes by car north of Egilsstadir. It is one of five cabins, modern but not brand new; soundproofing is minimal and that was annoying as other guests were inconsiderate and kept slamming doors. As I write this there is a baby crying in a nearby cabin. The cabins have a beautiful outlook to the back so I cleaned the windows on the outside. The window in the front door is frosted so no view at all. The kitchen is minimalist, only the basics are provided. Whilst the floor covering is made of plastic, it’s actually a fairly realistic version of oak so looks good. The owner was helpful when I phoned with a query; the cleaner was also considerate and was very helpful when I spoke with her. There isn’t a TV in the room – you have to create your own entertainment.

Guide: From the ring road you will drive from Egilsstaðir to the east and follow the road number 93 (Seyðisfjarðarvegur) about 30 km. A beautiful pass road is going along. Fronts of serpentines are turning up - and downwards on the other side. There are many beautiful views along the path. A few kilometres before Seyðisfjörður you can already look far in the fjord from above. The street is well developed - not a comparison to the streets in the neighbouring fjords. (The street 953 in the Mjóifjörður or the road number 94 to Hafnarólmi, I have felt partly as ”Hellrid”, because it is a steep, only squatted roads or a permanent construction site. ) However, the journey over the passport and down to the Fjord is a rather ”gondolei”. You must like or not. In summer it was possible to drive well. But in winter I'll imagine the route a little adventureful. The Lónsleira Apartments are easily found in Seyðisfjörður. Just right along the Austurvegur. At the end of the lake, the apartments are already recognized by the characteristic yellow and blue color. The car can be stopped right before the entrance to the apartments. ************* Entry/Check-in: We arrived on a Sunday evening and I have to say that I was just lost something. To date, we had the number at our accommodations beforehand either the key box by mail or a phone number we should contact at arrival. Or there was a kind of reception where we could get the key. Here we had no information, How we came to the keys and were something unconcerned. Fortunately, then I found the ”neighbors” in front of the house and asked how the check-in is going. You pointed me to a telephone number, I called and then got the PIN of the key cash. I also received a strange check-out, because there were no specifications here too. In many reviews I had read that the renter had passed over the stay. Okay, I wouldn't have had to do that. But since the booking was made over booking.com but the payment should have been made on the site, I already found it a little irritating that we were not contacted at all. Finally, we just put the key back to the safe when we leave. The cost of stay was cancelled from the credit card - although the credit card information was actually intended to be deposited for security only. Well, no matter. It wasn't bad. Maybe something went wrong - but I didn't find this kind optimal. I would have preferred a mail with the safe number or specific information. ************ Location, environment and shopping opportunities: The apartments

I had an impromptu stay in Seyðisfjörður after the first snow of the season had made Route 93 back to Egilsstaðir through the mountains impassable for the night with my vehicle. I stopped my Media Luna in search of available rooms for the night, and the staff was very kind and accommodating. He explained the usual plowing schedule for the town, and showed me around the guesthouse. Easy to get around with a common fridge | kitchen area, and all the rooms accessible through one central hallway. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the rooms were, being very clean and spacious with a nice and modern private bathroom. Great color scheme with browns and forest greens as well. I'm very appreciative for the accommodation, which made an unexpected hiccup into a nice detour during my Ring Road trip! I will certainly be staying here again if I visit Iceland again and am looking for somewhere to stay in Seyðisfjörður. Takk!
