We stayed in a platinum caravan and it was really dirty. There were 10-15 dead flies stuck to the main bathroom ceiling when we got there. There were carpets in the lounge and bedrooms with stains on them. There was a massive cobweb inside the vent above the kitchen sink - no wonder we kept finding spiders everywhere. The cooker needs replacing - the temperatures around the dial for the oven had all faded off, making it too risky to cook chicken. The oven door had dropped on one side, leaving a slight gap, so it took over an hour to cook oven chips. The microwave was full of rust patches on the inside. When we went to Reception to raise concerns, there was rarely anyone there. Then went to the bar to see if anyone could help and there was never anyone there either - to the extent that on the Sunday, we waited 10 minutes at the bar, with no sign of anyone, despite an event being on and the bar being full, and so had to ask a waitress to find the staff. When we did speak to the lady on Reception or the manager they were vey unhelpful, rude and dismissive. The caravan was 3 caravans from the end of a cul de sac which had waste bins at the end. As the weather was hot, the smell from the bins was unbearable.

We booked a gold caravan with hot tub. We wasn't expecting much but to our surprise we had a new caravan and the hot tub was nice and clean. We arrived early on Monday and waited in the bar area where we had a drink. Luckily, our van was ready by 3.30. Just to note the main building is being renovated Jan to March, so was winding down when we was there.

Where to begin? The entrance hall is filled with post/amazon packages and junk which is never a great first impression. We eventually found the person designated to check us in who "doesn't normally work there". He handed us a key and said "room is upstairs". Room one: not what we had booked. Twin beds to start with. No plug points near the bed. Dirty smear mark on the wall between the beds. Strange smell in the room. Shabby. Went downstairs and complained. Was handed a second key and left to our own devices to find the next room. Room 2: small double bed (again not what we had booked) and the softest mattress I have ever had the misfortune of having to "sleep" on. In fact if you sat on the edge it collapsed. Big dirty mark on the carpet, kettle plugged in to an extension cable that is frankly hazardous, no towel rail in the bathroom, half a loo roll, a broken bin and mould in the grout. No welcome pack in the room detailing breakfast time etc (and this information was not volunteered by the check in person either). As it was late and we had been travelling for over 5 hours we decided to tolerate it for the night and deal with it in the morning. Went out into town to get some dinner and on our return discovered the "hotel" was locked. There is no out of hours number to call and there was no staff on site. I had to force the front door open to get access to the building! After the worst nights sleep (or lack thereof) ever, we decided to leave. There was no one to be seen and there was no one offering breakfast (which we had paid for). To top it all off we got a call later in the day demanding to know when we were going to make payment! Full payment was made on 11 December which I now bitterly regret as had it not been they certainly would not have seen £244 from me! Absolute dump. The "Hotel" is really just a clubhouse for the caravan site. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

DONT GO HERE. Waste of money. Left in freezing temperatures with no heating in rental van. Gas bottle gave 5 hrs of heat. Gas bottles had not been checked despite freezing temperatures and heavy snow forecast. Not able to get hold of anyone to sort overnight as no emergency number. No manager on site, was helped by domestics and ground staff in the morning. After 12 hrs of no heating, hot water or cooking facilities except microwave. Vulnerable Elderly people in van one with heart problems. Absolutely disgusted this as happened. Could have caused fatalities. Unable to get off site in night due to snow or would have gone home to warm up. I repeat do not go here. Absolutely no management or emergency help. I REPEAT DO NOT WASTE MONEY GOING HERE. Wendy

This was one of the poorest caravans we’ve stayed in which is a shame because the area is beautiful, the staff were pleasant and the club house was lovely. We chose a silver grade caravan but it definitely wasn’t. The sheets on the bed were all stained, we reported this to the staff (they did change them immediately) but you would have thought whoever made the bed would have noticed and just binned them. If visiting just a tip take an extra toilet roll we were left 1 to share between 2 bathrooms, 4 guests for 3 nights. Some washing up liquid and a sponge wouldn’t go a miss either, we ended up washing the pots in just hot water using a baby wipe, we have never stayed in a silver grade caravan that hasn’t provided this so we didn’t take our own. The oven didn’t get to the correct temperature, we had it warming up for ages and ended up having to throw the food away, after having some chicken and chips in that should have taken 30 min in for just over a hour and was still anaemic and barely warm, and the oven trays were covered in crumbs and grease, prob cos the lasts guests didn’t realise they had to take washing up liquid either. The heaters in the bedrooms aren’t the best either so the caravan was freezing through the night and the bed had some broken slats. I would definitely say this should be a bronze rated caravan at the most.

Just returned from a 3 night weekend stay at Woodlands Hall (3 adults & a toddler). Caravan was clean & comfortable. Location quiet but short drive to all local sights. Special shout out to Will & Sam from the club. Will went out of his way both nights to make sure we had a lovely time, recommending places to visit & hosting a great Halloween party for kids & adults. My little girl loved it. Overall great weekend, would recommend if you're looking for budget break away

Text: An extremely dissapointing stay in 2 different vans. We recently had to move out of our property whilst renovation work was done to our property to assist my disabled husband and we booked Lyons woodlands disabled lodge 23-27 sep, We then decided to arrive on 20-23 on same park and contacted Lyon’s, Upon trying to book disabled unit was told it wasn’t vacant and after a long conversation with Georgia in the booking office who tried her very best to accommodate us it was decided we would go for the platinum lodge with hot tub as I was assured it had a handrail on both sides of the steps which I said my husband could manage with my help. When we arrived there was only a handrail on the right side which is my husband weak side and we really struggled and he felt like he didn’t want to go out all weekend as it was unsafe for him without the 2 handrails.Decided to make the most of it as the caravan was beautiful and at least I could use the hot tub. But after going out to buy swimwear found the hot tub not working, I reported it and reported it repeatedly and by sat evening was told engineer would come next day, nobody came. It was agreed that I would be reimbursed the difference in price for one without hot tub. (Which I still haven’t had)But the disappointment was immense especially after finding no handrails. We then were very much looking forward to moving in to accesable van, which we had seen pics online and it looked lovely and just what we needed but what got was completely different from the van advertised, it was very basic, no fire, stools round the table instead of proper chairs, but worst of all the wet room was nothing like the one in the picture it actually had a step up in to the shower not suitable at all, I did complain immediately but there was no where else to put us. We were offered a full refund if we left immediately. Where the hell were we supposed to go!!!The door to the van was not suitable for a wheelchair, it was simply a peice of wood to try and make the threshold higher.Other problems we found, was the overall view that welcomed us, a dirty filthy chair and ashtray at the door and on the threshold ***** from the kitchen to the lounge the screws were raised, extremely dangerous to someone who struggles to walk .And a leaky loo, Felt very much that the photos online of the accesable van was gross misrepresentation of what was on offer as this was the only one on site and it clearly states it is pictures of woodlands accessible van. It was our first visit to Lyons and felt very let down and disappointed. I gave Lyon’s the right to reply b4 I published this and got a call with an apply. Not good enough Lyon’s. We had been planning to spend my husbands birthday in March at your brand new resort as we had called in for lunch. Certainly not going now!!!!

Arrived at this caravan park on a sun holiday and initially thought that the caravan was in pretty good condition. However after a couple of hours of letting my son play on the carpet on the floor in the lounge, it became apparent that the caravan was not “professionally cleaned” as he was holding hair and dirt in his hands. We decided to check out the amenities on the first day and was told that there was only a park for the kids which was not great at all. It said on trip advisers that there is a games room however we could not find one. After buying a pint at the bar and sitting outside, we met someone who lives there. They were really helpful with telling us where is great to visit with kids. She then went on to tell us about the water in the hot tubs on the site which made me feel a little ill. Apparently the water is not changed all season which would explain the strong chlorine smell. The park does have a bouncy castle on site which was deflated. I asked the bar staff if it could be inflated in which they did. They were quickly evacuated from the bouncy castle due to myself and my partner not watching them (we were on a bench approx. 3 metres away). Overall, not child friendly and really really disappointed in the facilities. Not sure how it can be advertised as a family park. Staff were however lovely (apart from Chris who told my children off for playing on the bouncy castle).

Such a lovely time! We cannot fault this site, we stayed here for a weekend. We received a wonderfully warm, helpful and friendly welcome on our arrival to the park- we arrived early as we didn't realise the check in time, but staff soon gave us our welcome pack and allowed us to check in, although we were happy to wait in the beautiful bar area. The site itself is spacious, the vans are not crammed in, and the setting is beautiful. The site was perfect for us as it was so quiet, despite being well occupied. The caravan was lovely, and so clean! We have no complaints at all. The best part of the stay though was the warmth and friendliness of the staff, particularly Paula and Jackie (? I'm awful with names!) who all made us feel so welcome. The food and drinks in the restaurant and bar are brilliant and the prices are very good. All in all a great stay and we will absolutely be back- thank you!
