I've never stayed in a hostel before, let alone in a former jail revamped as one ! Besides the gimmick, the Court is a wonderful place to stay if you are visiting Edinburgh, whether on a budget or not : fantastic location near the St Giles cathedral (where city tours seemingly start from), super friendly staff and surprisingly clean amenities (first time experience in a hostel so I didn't know what to expect quite frankly). Would definitely recommend !

had a fantastic stay here! there were 10 of us who all booked out a dorm. was quiet, clean and good quality. there are two bathrooms and two toilets per dorm which i thought was very good. our room wasn’t ready for an extra half an hour so they gave us free drink tokens for the bar! the reason this doesn’t get 5 stars is because it was awfully hot in the room - even with the window open! there didn’t seem to be air con - we wondered even if the hostel had put the heating on? we didn’t try the breakfast. the hotel bar had decent food but long waits.

I booked a a night within the hotel on Halloween as we had booked a walking ghost tour within the city. It was a bit of a walk down to the Royal mile taking about 25 mins but as it was dry it was ok. The hotel was fantastic, the reception staff were lovely and very helpful. The entrance lobby was warm and clean, very inviting. All of the corridors were very well maintained, clean and beautifully decorated. Our room was very spacious with a queen sized bed, seating area and a good sized bathroom. The room again was nicely decorated and well equipped. Due to the restrictions the hotel restaurant was closed but we were allowed to order food into the hotel and the receptionist even pointed us in the direction of local shops. I would recommend the hotel and will most probably stay again.

The hotel only check in at 4:00pm. only at 4:00pm...
many guests arrive in the day time and wait for a long time for check in.....
long long queue.
The staff gave me a wrong room with no window, that is very narrow, which I have reserved a standard single room with a queen bed.
the room with no window, no wifi, no network...and seems that I cananot breath in the room...
and I have to go back to the lobby again .....
the door card is not that good...
I have to go to the reception to activate the card every day...yes. .. every day...
sometime, I found out that when I tried to open my room door...but it failed...
and I have to go back to the lobby again....
it is quite annoying.
The location is OK. with bus to the airport and the tram and bus station nearby.
The breakfast is good, with plenty of choices. The food is the same every day.

Stayed her for three nights October 2022 with the Scotland Rugby League team prior to the Rugby League World Cup. What a great find this hotel was. Spotlessly clean and so very comfortable. Bedrooms roomy and the beds as comfortable as you can get. The food was excellent, and they catered for our every need. The breakfasts were amazing and the service was beyond reproach . Special shout out to our servers Chez, Shannon and the boss Karen. Could not have been better. A massive thank you and a great start to our World Rugby League Cup campaign . Defo use this hotel again.

The 4-star superior Novotel Edinburgh Park Hotel caters to both business & leisure travellers. Situated next to Edinburgh Park train station & directly on the Edinburgh tramway, this hotel is one of the most convenient locations to explore the city. Featuring 170 spacious & modern rooms with newly fitted air conditioning, it is an ideal place to relax after a meeting or a day of exploration. The hotel blends comfort with a contemporary setting, providing a space to work, unwind, & recharge.
GGuest User2022.10.13
After staying in a number of hotels in Edinburgh, Novotel Edinburgh Park is definitely of highest quality in this price range. The location is perfect if you are working outside of the city but want to still experience the city centre at night. Edinburgh Park train station and tram stop are very close to the hotel with frequent services to neighbouring towns and Waverley station (city centre). The train is quickest to Waverley at only 9 mins and costs as little as £2.70 at super off peak times for a return ticket. The hotel rooms are spacious and clean. There are hundreds of channels on the 55” TVs. The beds are comfy and there is a temperature regulator fan (not air conditioning). The bathrooms are clean and well furnished. Executive rooms get some more toiletries than standard rooms. Some rooms have baths and some have stand-in showers. (Maybe you can note your preference when booking) Breakfast is definitely worth paying for. There’s a huge selection of food options, something for everyone. Hot food and continental style breakfast is offered and is a buffet style. The restaurant is large but can be very busy in the evenings. Car parking is offered at a member rate (Accor ALL account holders) of £6 per day. I would rate the hotel very highly, after staying here a number of times over the past few months and with more bookings in the not so distant future. I look forward to returning!

This is the most fabulous place & setting for a couple of nights stay, sadly let down by staff & services. It doesn’t surprise me to see what others have reviewed. This place clearly has been & could be so much more. I’ve no doubt the pandemic has hit them hard & they are struggling to recruit enough of the correct staff. The positives: Lovely historic setting & ambience. On site Spa & Falconry. Lovely airy clean rooms. Food ok to good. Plenty of parking. Breakfast included. The negatives: Poor staffing & services. Some staff just try too hard with ‘Amazing’ & Fantastic’ in their vocabulary constantly. Probably to appease the American market. The Orangery restaurant is very poorly run. Staff do their best, albeit could work with a little more haste, they just can’t cope. Similar excuses about booked tables that are never taken! Staff are generally un-knowledgable about services & timings & things were always going wrong. We laughed most of it off & just called it Fawty Towers, what’s next? :) They could do so much more with the veranda, the bar & Orangery. Bare in mind you are out in the country & taxis can be limited & costly. To summarise - we would stay again for the right price, probably out of the Festival season. Keep doing your best guys & gals but owners beware, you need to manage this place so much better

Excellent
GGuest UserAmazing stay! Went to Edinburgh as a surprise for my husband's birthday. The staff went out of their way to make it special and even came to the room to wish him Happy Birthday, along with a card and prosecco! They were friends, welcoming and informative. A beautiful, modern hotel and they really have thought of everything (milk in the fridge, tea, coffee, water etc). Would highly recommend and will definitely be back. Thank you for making our stay extra special.
GGuest UserMy recent hotel stay was a bit of a mixed experience. While the hotel was clean and well-equipped, there were several issues that detracted from my overall satisfaction.
Before arriving, I had communicated with the hotel via email and was told that they could be reached via WhatsApp. However, upon arrival, I was unable to get a response from the hotel on WhatsApp. Additionally, there was no reception area, and check-in had to be done over the phone, which required multiple long-distance phone calls and extra fees.
The day before check-in, I received a last-minute email from the hotel requesting a deposit, but they did not provide any information on how to make the payment. Not all of the staff were willing to provide assistance, but the last person I spoke to was patient and helpful, which allowed me to check in smoothly.
One major safety concern was that there was a step outside the bathroom, but the floor was not marked, making it easy to trip and fall. Another hazard was the transparent coffee table in the living room, which caused several stumbling incidents that could have led to injuries.
Overall, while the hotel was clean and well-maintained, the issues with communication, extra fees, and safety hazards detracted from my experience.
GGuest UserI am shocked to see the hotel with a 4-star rating on here. Everything about our experience was brilliant. We visited the hotel towards the end of March for a friends wedding. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, the drive in, the main reception building, the function room. A really special place to tie the knot. I think I can speak for most of the wedding party in saying the service was absolutely brilliant. All the staff were so attentive and really went above and beyond in catering to everybody’s needs. A special mention to Sofie and Johanna who were tending the bar. They really outdid themselves, professional and extremely pleasant throughout. I can’t imagine how hard it must be dealing with so many merry party goes but they did it with a smile and really went the extra mile and helped to make it a really great day. But thank you to everyone at the Dalmahoy, it was an amazing day.
CChristinaAmazing overall. Only thing that can better are: noise level within the corridors of the room floor. The room wall is so thin that you could hear all noises. The water pressure of the shower is pathetically low. I was given a room with a view (view to the roof that is, see photo) 😅.
Anyway the whole location and friendly staff made up for what’s missing.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel is in a very good location, not far from the train station. Many attractions can be reached on foot. Shopping and eating around are also convenient! When I started checking in, I was given a room on the underground floor. I was not satisfied. After communicating and coordinating with the front desk immediately, I was moved to a room on the 8th floor. The room on the 8th floor had a view of Calton Mountain, which was very nice. of!
GGuest UserIn all honesty we decided on the apartments because it was the cheapest available for a bank holiday weekend and seeing Harry Styles. It was great and no complaints and we were pleasantly surprised, it worked well having a bedroom then separate living area with sofa bed and mini kitchen for privacy & snorers lol. We initially thought it was the west end so bit far out from Murrayfield stadium/princes street but it really wasn’t that far at all and was a nice sunny day. Would 100% stay here again
GGuest UserI really enjoyed my stay at the Hilton Carlton, reception staff were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is very central to everything right in the heart next to the busy bustling city centre.
My room I booked was a King Deluxe very spacious, clean, quiet room my en-suite bathroom was a wet room lots of space, I found no fault with my room.
I ordered the continental breakfast in the morning staff were efficient, and the buffet breakfast offered gave a lot of good quality choices unlimited hot drinks, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, toast, plenty on offer.
I used the express checkout box as I was leaving in the morning there was a long queue as many guests were checking out so that suited me thank you so much to all the staff I had a wonderful experience.
GGuest UserWell located and staff helpful both during our visit and via email leading up to it. Hotel is off the beaten track and was quiet so no outside noise to speak of. Room we were allocated was just about ok size wise, older style furnishings and was ok, very clean though as was the bathroom which again was ok. Breakfast had plenty of choice but server appeared to be under pressure with the amount of people as the times had been shortened to only 2 hours available, 7am to 9am - I assume to accommodate the larger party who were getting theirs at 10am. As a result our breakfast felt rushed , no toast or drink refills. Not a great problem at breakfast but don't really want to be rushing breakfast after a night out in Edinburgh. In summary for the price paid, excellent location and good staff, decor is dated but clean and adequate, would I return ? yes if the prices was more competitive.
GGuest UserWe stayed at this hotel for 4 days. We had a lovely big room, very clean. The staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel is in a quiet place, very convenient as it is a walking distance from the train station, shops, busses and tram just round the corner and not far from the city centre, The only drawback for us was that we had to go out for breakfast as this hotel has 6 houses, all have their own doors therefore one has to go out to the first house for breakfast and each house has few steps so going up and down was not very good for us . There are no lifts although we had a downstairs room. We would have preferred if they have a restaurant . The breakfast room is a bit small and can be very crowded at times,
