We visited the restaurant as a gift from family to celebrate a special birthday but have to say we left feeling disappointed as didn’t live up to our expectations of Gleneagles or a luxury dining experience . A beautiful building and location but not a very comfortable dining experience .Small tables , difficult to relax as diners all very much on top of each other . The young server we had was pleasant and helpful . Our food was good but for the price we expected something a bit more luxurious . It lacked on the little special extras and attention to detail that comes with a top dining experience . The mark up prices for drinks are ridiculous and also the way that they are listed on the menu are very ambiguous around are you getting a glass for that price or a bottle . We queried our bill and it was rectified but it’s leaves a bad taste in your mouth so to speak . Sadly wouldn’t choose to return .

The last time I reviewed this venue, I was genuinely appalled by the service having had many trips to the original hotel. Was this experience perfect? No, the five stars come for the massive improvement in service. The product it's self is great food was excellent, wine list one of the better ones, cocktails a bit average. Will be back

Went in one evening to see the place. Christmas decoration in the lobby area only. Thought they would have done more. Two large gin and tonics £37. The entire bottle only costs £40 retail. Now that is some mark up. Well did the visit but will cross off my list as a never to return. Went to the Dome which knocks this place for six

We enjoyed cocktails in the Spence bar and the service was excellent, thanks to Sarah and Robyn. Quick, efficient and very friendly. The ambience and setting is truly beautiful, especially now the Xmas decorations are up in the entrance. I would most certainly recommend The Townhouse and would suggest calling ahead to reserve a booth as it was busy, however it was a Saturday evening and there was plenty of bar seating available. We will be back to try the food next time.

Coming down from Gleneagles in October 2023, we opted this time for the Gleneagles Townhouse and not the Balmoral - big mistake. Coming with a rental car it all starts with unloading, no parking space etc. The room was small but the price big. Complicated to get to the room, would not like to be there in case of a fire!! The Spence is a big deception, the service staff chatted to each other, avoided eye contact with clients - they could ask for something. The food choice as meagre as the portions - nothing to become obese. The breakfast, slow and small. The only highlight was the location and the room of the Spence. As regular overseas visitors to Scotland, this was the only time we were staying at the Gleneagles Town House.

Decor and ambience was excellent, service, acceptable but not brilliant, food, well presented but pretty tastless and very overpriced. There is some work to do here to get the quality of the food commensurate with the price but would definitely give it a second chance.

Went for afternoon tea at The Spence restaurant. Little details were missing such as lack of attention from staff. Food was delivered with no follow up to refresh drinks. No spoons for cream or jam No fresh cutlery for sweet selection, so the same knife for a scone as used for the crab which incidentally was a major disappointment. Crab is a strong flavour but this was very bland. Overall good experience but lacking for somewhere supposedly high end

This was our second visit to Gleneagles townhouse after visiting for the first time last October. On our last visit we were really disappointed by the service, however there has been a HUGE improvement since then. We went yesterday for the Brunch Club and had a wonderful time - the service was truly exceptional, and the food was delicious. I am currently pregnant and despite not being able to eat / drink all that was on offer, the server and chef made sure I had a special experience.
