Overall, the hotel itself was okay. Service started out good as the front desk allowed a friend to leave a package in our room before we checked in. It went downhill from here. We arrived around 11:15 am. There were plenty of rooms available and obviously ours was ready since they allowed a package in our room prior to our arrival. The clerk told me that it would be a $30 charge to check in before 3:00 pm and that the payment would have to be in cash. I asked him if he could just add it to the bill and he said NO, it has to be in cash. We needed to check in so I gave him the cash and asked for a receipt. He said that it would be on my bill. Next he called my room before I had the car unpacked and told me that it would be $20 for my pet. I had already told him that I had a pet when I checked in. I asked him to add it to my bill and he asked for cash. Told him I didn't have it and to please put on my bill. When checking out, the $20 charge for my pet was on the statement, but he took my printed receipt and handwrote $30 for early check in on the receipt and gave it back to me instead of it printing on my statement. He did sign the receipt. I have never heard of a hotel charging for early check in if the room is ready and the insistence on cash was very suspicious. Feel like I was ripped off for $30.
