The Inn at Brough

The best thing about the hotel is the staff, who were lovely. However the hotel itself is tired and in need of a deep clean. The stair carpet wasn’t particular clean, although the landing on the first floor was fine. The wallpaper in the hallway was faded with a few damp patches showing. Our room (3) was quite spacious, the bed was comfy and sheets were clean. However there was black mould around the bath and the window wouldn’t stay open, plus the blind was staring to drop to bits. The black towels were very faded too. We had dinner on the first evening, which wasn’t the best - clearly the food had been microwaved. Breakfast the following morning was terrible, the sausages were grey and lukewarm, bacon was cold as was everything else on the plate, we sent it back. Other guests were moaning too as we could clearly hear them. The only saving grace was the coffee was nice and there were packets of cereals available. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all, very overpriced for the lack of quality the breakfast and the overall cleanliness.

Lovely hotel, plenty of room to park the coach in the car park. Fabulous room, huge bed, huge bath. Lovely bar, Guinness on tap! Only issue was finding something to eat in the evening as the hotel doesn’t serve food & the pub was closed. The local shop has a microwave though & is open until 9pm

This is a really lovely hotel with modern rooms and a real home feel. The staff were extremely friendly and you were always made to feel welcome. The hotel dog is an added bonus to this great place. We had dinner there and both chose the pies which were excellent. The beds were SO comfy and the rooms were well equipped. The breakfast in the morning was of a high quality. We would definitely stay here again-thanks for such an enjoyable stay!

, This place looked ideal for a visit with friends from the U.S.A., however upon arrival at 14.50 the front door was locked with no sign of life, curtains closed, and a feeling of the place being closed down, went round the back ,still no sign of life,went back to the front ,by now it was past 15.00 hours, a local showed me where reception was.I should have looked at the photo of a previous reviewer.The reception area was nothing like the pictures shown, I asked to see the rooms and the restaurant,The curtains were closed in the restaurant, the whole place looked scruffy, I didn’t even look at the rooms.I could not let guests from another country stay here.The pictures of the hotel looked fabulous but the the downstairs bore no resemblance to those pictures, true I didn’t even look at the rooms I had seen enough. We left to try and find somewhere else.The manager of this hotel rang me and said I had left the receptionist in tears, well she wasn’t crying when we left and all I said was it was unsuitable, I did ask to speak to the manager when I was at the hotel but she told she was off till Monday. I told the manager about all the childrens toys scattered over the floor, to which she replied they were her sons , well if she was off till Mon what were they doing there on the Sat.She also told me they had no staff for the previous week and the times were difficult, yes maybe so but she till took my £351.00 for a place that wasn’t as advertised.So we just drove back home.

Stayed for 2 nights, what wonderful friendly and attentive staff, they made it home from home The room was great the breakfast was more than adequate Was just a great 2 days Would have no hesitation if recommending the hotel The location is good for a variety of vacations

Booked at last minute and got the lady Ann suite, beautiful bathroom and nice sized livingroom and bedroom, but lots of stairs, very helpful staff ,couldn't do enough to help, a few little hiccups but they was soon sorted, food was ok and more than ample carparking to the rear of hotel..
