Stayed here for four nights in June with our dog. We got an excellent four nights for the price of three deal which was such good value. The Inn is about a five minute drive for Peebles but the area immediately around it is very nice for a walk with the dog. There is also plenty of parking available. They are very dog-friendly in the Inn and whilst they do tend to keep the residents with dogs in the bar for meals, in most other respects there are very few rules around having a dog there and they always made a fuss of our dog and brought water for him whenever we went into the bar. The bedroom was a good size with a really big TV screen and there was room for our large dog crate. The bed was comfortable, if a little soft, but we slept very well. The room also had a sitting area plus a dressing table and also had robes and tea and coffee and a hairdryer. There were a few cobwebs on the ceiling of the room but nothing major. The bathroom was also a bit dated and the shower head was a bit grubby with the shower itself being a bit compact but when I mentioned it to the lady in the hotel she arranged for it to cleaned with no problem. Breakfast was delicious and generous and the breakfast ladies (sorry didn’t get your names) were really, really lovely. Other food in the hotel was pretty good, some dishes were amazing and some not so much. Would recommend the pate, steak pie and the lunchtime casserole. The chicken roulade was a bit dry and the chips and mash were both a bit disappointing. In saying this, we ate in the bar the year before and the food was so amazing then we probably had over-inflated expectations. The lunch menu was excellent value though with the main menu being a bit more expensive. Overall I had a lovely relaxing time here and would definitely go back - all the staff were lovely. In writing this review I have tried to highlight all the good points and some of the maybe not-so-good but I would definitely recommend checking The Horseshoe Inn out.
