I needed a B&B for a one night stay during an event weekend I was at some 15 miles away. After a day out all day in the hot weather I arrived pretty exhausted and delighted to find the room spacious and comfortable, the staff friendly, the beer good and the food very nice. The full English breakfast the next morning was excellent and highly recommended. Lovely village setting. Well worth a return visit sometime...

Checked in here for the South Downs way - we’d walked 21 miles so we were ready for a hot meal and bed. Every single staff member was super lovely, helpful, and genuinely hysterical. My mum is pretty particular with her food and they were so kind and considerate with her, without making a big deal. They also really kindly made up some awesome sourdough breakfast sandwiches to go, so we could beat the torrential weather on the next afternoon. Comfortable beds, clean rooms, good food. Would definitely return.

Located in the quiet, charming village of East Meon. We used the pub as a stopover on a weekend walking of the South Downs way - it is only one mile off the National trail and at a doable walking distance from Winchester at the 18 mile marker. This is a more upmarket pub with five rooms. These are quite spacious and towards the upper end of pub accommodation. Our cost was £95 per night. This includes a continental breakfast and a cooked breakfast would be a further £10. After 10 pm the surroundings go very quiet and a good nights sleep was enjoyed. We also enjoyed an evening meal which was gastro pub classics. Service was friendly and professional throughout our stay.

Went for down to have a cup of coffee at 10.30am on Sunday morning to be told very curtly that check our was 10.30am........I explained that no one had told us that previously, and we would pack up and check out immediately...... We came down 25 mins later to pay our bill, and after paying noticed on the receipt that they had charged £25 late check out fee! I queried this as it was £1 per minute......basically the guy shrugged his shoulders and walked away.

I stayed at the George with my son after walking 12 miles across the South Downs. We had the warmest of welcomes in this lovely old pub in East Meon, which is well worth a visit. All the staff were convivial and very helpful with directions for our walk the next day, finding the time to talk about village history. Our room was comfortable and the breakfasts were generous and excellent quality. Our experience at the George helped create wonderful memories of walking in the stunning Meon valley - many thanks.
