Premier Hotel East London ICC

When I arrived in the room it was hot and muggy - so I turned on the aircon that did not cool down. It only heated up and made the room even more humid. The TV ‘worked’ with big white spots visible through the screen. I called reception who sent maintenance. He replaced the aircon with one that at least had a working fan even if it didn’t cool. I couldn’t sleep with the door open since I was on the ground floor with no balcony or security door. The TV I was told was just like that. They couldn’t do anything about it. As for the cleaning service: On day two they took my towels to wash and forgot to return them. On day 3 I had no bathroom mat and on day four they forgot to bring toilet paper. The restaurant food was awful! The green salad on day one was good, but by day 3 the cucumber was slimy, the tomatoes were see through and the lettuce was a dark green mess On day they three lunch they served plain cooked pasta with an overly salty ‘spinach’ sauce that no one ate. So they recycled it, put the pasta and sauce together and sprinkled some cheese over the top and it was then dinner. They serve a cheesecake that has not ever seen cheese - it tastes like a box of powdered milk mixed with water and gelatins masquerading as cheesecake. I will never be back - and that’s a 4 Star hotel?
Premier Hotel Regent

Do not visit this hotel if you can afford to spend your money better. In disbelief as I type. Some of the reception staff gossip and don't greet guests on arrival so you have to kind of let them get on with it while you find someone who actually wants to welcome you as you check in. Careless is an understatement. A two-night's stay (2 single beds in one room) cost approximately R3 000,00. What exactly did we pay for? A room that smelled of heavy body odor, and Lord knows what else. Then upon requesting to be moved to a livable room, we were informed that they would prepare a suitable one. They didn't revert with any update for an hour while we sat in the stinky room, getting headaches from the stench. We had to call reception after which a porter was sent to take our luggage to the room next door, which smelled normal and fresh. You'd think that'd be the end of it. They apologized citing a mix up or error in allocation of rooms while I wondered exactly who the stinky room had initially been intended for (if it really was a mix-up/error). Health inspections don't seem to be a priority and it's quite concerning. Anyway, this room had no working air-conditioning/heater (it's in the dead of winter) so we called the reception for the maintenance guy who was very helpful. He replaced the batteries in the air conditioner's remote using those from the TV remote then brought new ones for the TV remote, for a TV that only has 3 channels to watch, mind you, the wifi has been 'down' for years. For context, we were exhausted from running loads of errands when we got there but had to wait in a stinky room for over an hour for them to prepare the room. We were irritable and sleep did not come easy. Never have I missed my own bed at home, while at a hotel as much as I did that night. We decided to stay in the next day (one of us wasn't feeling well after having to sit in a stinky room for over an hour) and informed housekeeping after only requesting a towel change and no further cleaning of the room. They took out the bins and let me replace the coffee and sugar while they did so. So I ordered breakfast on UberEats afterwards and stepped out for two/five minutes to collect it and someone (within that brief window) knocked on the door and opened it while one of us (who wasn't feeling well) was inside thinking I was at the door back from collecting the delivery downstairs. The unidentified male had entered the room without announcing himself. She was startled and asked him what he was doing in the room and he mumbled something about needing to check something on the balcony as he rushed out of the room. No one called or came afterwards. What a regrettable stay. We were so relieved to check out the next day to stay at a way better hotel nearby. Hospitality 0 Value for money 0 Peace of mind 0

Very clean and neat environment. Ladies are very friendly and tend to your every need. I would suggest putting some drinking water or juice in each room and adding extra toilet paper. Otherwise very quiet and peaceful stay.
Road Lodge East London

First time visiting Road Lodge East London and all I can say is staff is fabulous! I had a warm welcome from reception, the hot chocolate from the kitchen was marvellous! My dinner was to die for. The room was well organised, clean and ready for occupation on time. May the Lord bless all the people working hard to make this hotel stay feel like home away from home.
