Aldrich Guest House

Literally everything about this place and this couple will stun you. Robert and Douglas are so amazing, their food is better than anywhere in town (not to say that the food in town is bad its good too but these two are better.. way better), their personalities shine brighter than the sunlight in the parlor (which is phenomenal in the morning), and they are both so beyond thoughtful even running through a common forgotten items checklist with you before you head out just to make sure you dont forget anything! I HIGHLY recommend visiting. The place itself is easy to get to, its not far from town (walkable even) but far enough away from town to not be bothered by a bunch of people. The squirrels around this place are friendly too! What an amazing experience.

Aldrich house is beautifully decorated and maintained, quiet, comfortable and serene b&b. Innkeepers Robert and Douglas see to every need, and can help any activities in and around Galena. Breakfasts and 5pm drinks and snacks are delicious, and provide the perfect setting for getting to know fellow guests. Stay there once, and you will understand why we keep returning.

My wife and I spent 3 days in Galena on a Wednesday-Friday just to get away for a bit. Though we'd do something where we could relax and enjoy. We decided to do a Bed & Breakfast instead of a hotel. We got room 5 which has a clawfoot tub in the bathroom, 2 windows (one with a view to the street, the other with a view to their landscaped area) which had a lot of space. The hosts offer a cocktail hour at 5:00 with a fresh snack and a few drink choices. Breakfast is made fresh daily and varies from day to day. The location is excellent; at the end of a quiet street yet 3 blocks from all the shops in downtown Galena. Very close to a couple tourist attractions. The hosts are very attentive and helpful and have been doing this for many years (yet are selling the place...)

The perfect get away spot. We are so happy we booked our stay here. Lots to choose from in Galena, but this experience was tops. Attention given to every detail. Cocktail hour was a pleasant surprise with unique cocktails and personal charcuterie trays served up with conversation that connected all the guests. We neglected to make dinner reservations, but Robert handled it and we were given a great table at our preferred restaurant 45 minutes later. The evening vibe was ideal as we relaxed in the potting shed. Breakfast was outstanding followed by an extra pot of delicious coffee as we read on the porch. So many nice touches. Just go, you will be so happy you did!

Everything about our stay was lovely! From the tour to the delicious cocktails to the charming rooms and welcoming atmosphere. We so appreciated Robert and Douglas as hosts and felt incredibly comfortable! The location is perfect for walking into Galena and wandering back with all of your finds!

Staying at the Aldrich House was an excellent experience. The House is lovely on the outside and the interior has been renovated and styled with beauty, taste, and reflecting the history of the house. Each touch in the individual rooms as well as the common areas give a sense of welcome. The color scheme and decor are relaxing while being elegant in a way that is not frilly or overdone. The grounds are lovely and understated fitting perfectly with the House. The owners called ahead of our arrival to welcome us and give specific details. The checkin time starts at noon which is a welcome early surprise as we are used to times of 3 or later. We arrived and were warmly greeted by the owners, Douglas and Robert, who gave a tour, carried our hugely overpacked (for three days) bags upstairs, and made us feel at home. The touches: breakfast in the morning inside one day, on the porch the next-so delicious. I could write for days about the wonderful food. Chocolate chip cookies all day, coffee, water, and tea, the Shed (which is a whole other paradise of comfort), and the common areas-all perfectly completed a wonderful stay.
