Fairway Guest House

Very friendly staff and stunning view were the highlights, delicious breakfasts which could do with a bit more variety. The bathroom we had was outdated and needs a revamp especially considering that this place was quite pricey! The property has beautiful lit gardens at night which are special and the panoramic view of the ocean was fabulous. The bed was very comfortable. We did feel that for the price they could of at least supplied 2 ply loo paper and proper soaps! There is only a tiny bar fridge in the room and the property does not cater for sandwiches or light meals and there is no ice available so make sure you are stocked up or go out. A special shout out goes to Angel whom nothing we asked was too much trouble for her. There are very annoying roosters that crow all day long on the golf course property in front of the guest house, so keep that in mind if you are noise sensitive which we are.

Breakfast is served from 6 am until 9 am - they do not consider that guests are on vacation and may sleep in therefore breakfast should close later. The toilet leaked, it was fixed only after the second complaint. Bath towels are not replaced daily. It was just picked up from the shower floor and hung in the bathroom, it was not dry by the evening. The Manager lied that they would be fined if they washed towels daily due to water restrictions in the area. I checked with other guest houses in the area and they were providing daily change of towels. The sheets had stains. Soap was not replenished. The room was small considering the price. On the positive side, the room had a beautiful view of the ocean and management did consider our dietary requirements.

Beautiful view, friendly staff and great breakfast. Thanks to Chris for the best service as well. The view of the ocean is amazing. Swimming pool is sparkling and inviting. The garden would make you not want to leave their property. You can read a book, relax or just sit quietly while listening to birds

We booked 2 nights at Fairway Guest House 2nd to 4th June 2022 having booked a 525sq ft room upstairs with a balcony as confirmed per ***********. When we arrived we were given a very small dark downstairs room backing onto the kitchen/patio area where a strong curry smell pervaded. The receptionist was not prepared to accept that this was not the room we had booked so we spoke to Chris the pleasant head of the kitchen/dining room. He spoke to the owner and moved us to the room we had booked upstairs which was spacious and was what was pictured on our initial booking. We were not advised of the construction works ongoing after the recent floods and significant damage to the guesthouse which lost its deck and had damage to the building itself. Had we been informed of this we would have cancelled as it was a construction site with the pool empty and no where to sit and enjoy the view of the sea. The room we were given initially was poky, dark and only had a curtain for privacy entering the tiny shower/loo area and half height walls. This shower room had no extraction fan or window for fresh air and with the guest in the next door room smoking copiously right next to our small patio and talking loudly on his phone there as no way we could leave a window open. there were 2 hangers each provided in the wardrobe. Possibly a business traveller might have accepted this but at the rate we paid we expected something comparable to the excellent B&B's South Africa provides. The breakfast served was plentiful but not up to high standard. A communal tray of shared jams and sauces is a very dated concept. With no apology offered for the very obvious mistake in room accommodation we sent a complaint to the receptionist who was extremely undiplomatic and accused us of bullying the staff. This is not true as we queried the room we were given and she was very put out that we complained. This is not the way to treat guests. She ignored us from then on.
