Walking Britain I passed many good pubs but never one so great. A brilliant traditional pub with the nicest, most inviting pub staff, ringo and Nigel. With possibly the best range of ales I've ever had. Well worth visiting even if you have to walk a very long way.

Absolutely fabulous food (1 x exmoor ale pie; 2 x chilli); best service possible and the ale - perfect!!!! (Otter and On the Level). Cannot recommend highly enough!!!! If this way again, wouldn’t hesitate. And a lovely pub in an absolutely gem of a village.

We visited here in November 24 for a 70th birthday and decided to have another weekend away in Dunster and enjoyed a couple of meals at the Stags Head. Again we cannot fault the pub, the staff are very welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much for them and the food was fantastic. It's a very cosy pub with a nice open fire, with a good choice of ales and drinks. We got to meet both the owner and Ringo the front of house manager and both are lovely people and very knowledgeable giving us great advice on their choice of spiced rum. We will definitely be back here again.

The hospitality at The Stags Head is awesome! The Team are welcoming and do everything they can to ensure that your visit is comfortable and enjoyable, nothing is too much trouble! The rooms are clean, well presented and stocked with tea, coffee, treats and toiletries! The food at The Stags Head is reasonably priced, tasty and hot! The menu is varied and layers for all dietician needs? Thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay and will definitely come back to enjoy the spectacular area! Thank you for a wonderful time!

Live locally and noticed your menu online and thought we need to try this! Myself and a friend went for dinner and both thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere and the food was the best we have had for a long time. Thank you so much 😊

Booked for a birthday celebration and they decorated the table and put up a banner for me. Enjoyed the food, had the fried chicken which as a different twist, had a feta cheese salad as a side and a large portion of tasty chips. Husband enjoyed the steak pie. Welcoming atmosphere and a nice range of beers and wines. Definately will be returning.

We were staying next door to the Stag’s Head, so getting there was easy. We ate there two nights running, which must say something. It has a nice atmosphere. Most of the tables seemed to be taken when we were there and there were a number of people in there just for a drink, which is perfect for a pub. The menu majors on pub classics, which are very well executed. The first night I had steak pie and chips and my wife had scampi. The steak pie was a masterpiece, a proper raised pie, with proper pastry- none of this rubbish of a bowl of stew with a flaky pastry lid. The scampi were huge and beautifully cooked in breadcrumbs. The chips were also excellent. All accompanied by a good range of beers and ciders. The second night we both had fish pie accompanied by samfire. The fish pie was spot on with bags of fish topped with creamy, cheesy mash. My wife found the samfire too salty for her taste. It was salty, but I was OK with it.

Great pub on the “quiet side of town”. Very friendly locals and staff. Good selection of beers and local ciders. We ate there three times during our stay in the village and the food was excellent. Make sure to book for dinner as they were turning people away. Definitely return next time in the area.
