Travelled to Dunoon with Gibbons coaches for 5 days from the 4th to the 8th September 24. Arrived at the Selborne hotel very late evening. A lovely welcome from the manager and staff. We were given our keys for room 306. Went up in the lift to our room to the third floor. A lovely twin bed room, very clean, lovely soft carpet, plenty of storage for your clothes, lovely size shower room. Tea coffee supplied, hairdryer available in the room. There was an excellent sea view from our with a beautiful view of the garden. The room was very warm had to open both top windows as the weather was really hot, there was lovely thick curtains hung at the windows. Went down for our meal at 7 pm due to our time of arrival, as the dinner is at 6pm and breakfast at 8am. A wide selection of meals, a choice of starters, the soup is absolutely delicious. All the meals were lovely and tasty. They were all set on the plate, as no self-service bowls at the table as of some places. The breakfast was serve yourself from the table that was set out as you went into the dining room, a choice of cereals, yoghurt, fruit, to take to your table or you could have a full cooked breakfast or anything off the menu that you fancied you could have cereals and cooked breakfast if you wanted. The menu was at the table for the evening meals. Some of the evening meals had to be ordered in the morning at breakfast time but not the starters. The servers would tell you the chefs special when ordering your meal. All the servers were excellent, very polite and friendly, and worked extremely hard. There was entertainment in the evening with bingo, on the Saturday it was a Disc Jockey which you could choose your song of your choice which was a lovely evening. Bar closed at 11 pm. The price of the drinks I found very satisfactory as not a lot of difference in price to what is paid at clubs at home. Staying at the Selborne was really lovely, very friendly, lovely and clean, the decor was really nice, lovely soft carpets throughout. They did have a nice dance floor near the stage. All the seating was comfortable, spotless toilets, there was even hand gel on the handles on the doors in the ladies toilets that would gently seep out when you pulled the door open. It was such a delightful stay, at such a lovely hotel, it's such a shame it went so fast. I absolutely enjoyed it, ☺️

Very friendly staff. We booked this location last minute as we travelled to experience the Cowal Gathering (Highland Games) in Dunoon. Had a fantastic time. Hotel had a great location with walkout to the seawall. Cowal gathering was a great event.

Alfa coach trip. Staff at the hotel were excellent, Nice welcome from Anna. Seaview twin room was clean and bed was comfy. Aaron behind the bar was professional and friendly. Entertainment was good especially kareoke night with Megan keeping us in check and she had a lovely voice. Downside if you're not mobile you need to ask for ground floor room, or easy accessible room, as in our case we had 2 flights of stairs to go up, when we got out of the lift, which was fine for me but not so easy for my mam. Think they also need to look at the "chef" as although the evening menu looked good, the food that came was sadly lacking, and quite often cold. Breakfast- it's a hard job if you can't get eggs right. Saying this I would still do a return visit, as everything else was fine and the surounding area is beautiful, the trips to Bute and Mount Stuart were well worth a visit (an added bonus as we couldn't get to Cumbrae, due to an unavoidable issue with the ferry), Driver Dave was great too, he took us out of his way to get some nice photos....... review would've been a 5⭐️ had the food lived up to expectations

Hotel could do with a complete decoration inside. Although the dining room was kept moderately clean the dado rails had dust and dead insects on them also some of the advertised drinks were not available at the bar. Car parking was minimal especially when tour busses were there.

We came here with KM coaches stayed in a room with fantastic views overlooking the Clyde, yes it could do with some TLC especially the outside seating area down the rear steps very shabby, on a better note the food was nice and so were the excellent staff. The scenery on our day trips was outstanding.

This is a good but dated hotel. My room was fairly quiet with a comfortable bed and amazing views across the Firth of Clyde! We were lucky with the weather! I think I saw a submarine while waiting to cross by Ferry, but it was quite dark! The scenery is captivating and very relaxing!

Good hotel with beautiful views. Food has been very tasty with good variety. Room could do with decorating as it's a bit tired with the wallpaper coming off in places. The bed was comfortable. Will visit again. This is our second visit so is acceptable to us.

I came here with my mum, and our experience has been wonderful. The bed was incredibly comfortable, allowing us to rest peacefully each night. As for the food, I found it to be amazing; every meal exceeded my expectations in terms of both taste and quality. Additionally, the staff were extremely helpful throughout our stay. Their professionalism and kindness made us feel welcome and well taken care of. Overall, the experience was truly enjoyable, and I am grateful to everyone who played a part in making it so memorable. Thank you all for your exceptional service on the 29th of August, 2024.
