Hotels near Baima Tower in Dunhuang

I planned to stay in Dunhuang for 3 days. I saw rave reviews about this hotel on Xiaohongshu, so I decisively made a reservation. After actually checking in, I had a great experience. The room and bathroom are very large. Although there is a road outside the window, the sound insulation is very good. It's better to hear no noise at all, and there are simple fitness equipment and a foot bath in the room, which is perfect for relaxing at night after running around during the day. The service attitude in the hotel is excellent, the cleaning is very clean, and the breakfast is very rich. The location is not far from Dunhuang Bookstore, and there is a supermarket and snack bar downstairs. The only drawback is that the car is not very smart when leaving the hotel parking lot (we rented a car for a self-driving trip), and the front desk needs to manually operate the lift lever. Sometimes the front desk may be busy with other things or does not see a car about to go out, and it will take several days to wait. Minutes before lifting the pole. Apart from this little flaw, everything else is perfect.

Drinking water is provided. The mineral water in the room is basically unlimited. The breakfast is rich! The only drawback is that the attitude at the front desk is very average and lukewarm, maybe because there are so many people during National Day~

Location very good for river, museum. 20mins to night market. So, location fine. Modern, pleasant. Rooms fine - clean. We got upgraded to a suite. Some bits and pieces a bit loose and the bedside electrical socket unreliable. However, nothing out of the ordinary! Decent breakfast by Chinese standards. Not a 5* for sure, but very good value. Would recommend.

You can see the staff changing the sheets and quilts when checking in and checking out. It seems that this hotel is very reassuring about the hygiene of the bedding. There is a self-service laundry room on the 4th floor of the hotel, which is quite convenient. Yes, I will stay here again next time I come to Dunhuang.

Nice bathtub and room though a little outdated. The only issue we had is one staff member insisted on us not going to the Crescent Springs nearby because it didn’t open until 9 am even though we knew it opened at 6, and tried to convince us not to go when we asked for help buying tickets. It was very odd, it’s the main attraction there I’m sure she knows the hours. We went at 6 and it was open as always, according to baidu and the staff, enjoyed a beautiful sunrise luckily didn’t listen to front desk.

We got free upgrade to the suite so that was nice. Very pretty river view and not as noisy as some of the reviews I've read. Probably because the weather was getting chilly. Room was very spacious, even for just the size of the bedroom alone. Bed was comfortable and not too soft. But I will say that the light switches in the rooms and also the smart toilet seat were very confusing. Strangely, it had a large bathtub area, but a separate and very squished shower closet. The water didn't quite drain properly also. Breakfast was okay. But considering how the city really is just a town in the desert, I'd say it's actually pretty good. The local restaurants are also options, but we had to get up super early for day trips, and didn't feel like freezing outside to look for food when it's still dark. Side note, the night market in town is nice but not much going on outside of that area. The hotel is not in the city centre, but since the city is small, taxi is the way to go. We actually end up just getting the phone number of one of the taxi driver, and called her whenever we planned to head out. I chose the hotel based on aesthetics and was not disappointed. But our suite was in the end of a very long hallway, so get ready to walk if you are not near the elevator.

Overall, it's a tourist city after all. It's a little worse than chain hotels in big cities, maybe because it takes a long time to renovate. The service was very good the day before yesterday. Parking is at your own expense.
