The Fort Hotel

Charming hotel in a great location in the centre of Broughty Ferry. My room was very comfortable and well appointed and the food in the restaurant was delicious and plentiful. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. There is ample free parking in the streets surrounding the hotel.

I'd advise bookin. Visited the restaurant twice because we really liked it the first time. I had the Mongolian beef, it was delicious, better than my own! My daughter had the lasagne which she thoroughly enjoyed. My husband had the scampi, also delicious. Only point I'd like to make about our meals the first night, and it's not a negative point, goodness are they large portions! Well worth the money but be prepared for LARGE portions. We turned up the next evening, again with no reservation, and were initially seated in the beer garden. It was a pleasant evening so we didn't mind. Blankets are available for hire. The menu for the beer garden is smaller than the main restaurant but still varied. We had learned from the previous evening and ordered smaller portions where applicable. My Caledonia burger was cooked perfectly, everyone else's meals were equally as good. We were asked if we wanted to move inside when a table became available, we did, and the staff were great at moving our drinks and food quickly. We will definitely be back the next time we're in the area.

We had to check in at the bar which was very busy therefore it took some time to be served. We were then asked to go to reception. The lovely man took our payment of £160 for the night. This did not include breakfast. We were then asked to walk along the road to our room which was in another building. It has recently been refurbished and it does look very nice initially. Unfortunately the shower was not clean and the floor looked as though it had not been cleaned for sometime. There was shaving foam left at the side of the sink cabinet. The bed was very small and the bedding was poor quality. I feel many places are charging high end prices for very poor quality. The bar was always busy and the food is supposed to be very good but we didn’t eat here so can’t comment personally. We would not return at this price unfortunately.

Excellent. I requested a table for 6 for lunch at the last minute, the Fort went above and beyond and moved a few tables around to accommodate us. Good menu with something for everyone: everything from soup, baked potatoes, burgers, to a full blown lunch and all proper sized helpings. Staff were friendly and helpful. Prices are not ridiculous. We all agreed we had had a very positive experience. We’ll be back again soon.

Went on a date to Fort's restaurant, and I don't think we'll be back. We waited a while to be seen to be seated, we had a reservation. We were seated and then again waited at least 15mins to been seen for a drinks order, the waitress then seemed annoyed that we were also ready to order food. I feel that it was disrespectful when she asked if I wanted a half portion, but did not ask my partner. The wait on drinks wasn't too bad, however, half the order was missing and the waitress didn't hang around long enough for us to ask about it. The food took about 30mins to arrive, and the restaurant was not busy, the food was nice and the portions were good, but the service really let the kitchen down. The staff seemed more interested in chatting behind the bar than doing their jobs, I witnessed a party be sat on an unwiped table

3 of us came for tea on 12th October, I ordered Fish, Chips, Onion Rings & Mushy peas all of which were served warm, my wife had the Haddock Mornay which she said was fabulous & nice & hot, my Sister-in-Law had the Steak Pie which was warm. Come on guys, what is going on? Your food is usually amazing but last night was a farce - The waitress that served us was amazing. We will be back, but we’re thoroughly disappointed with last nights food
