Carrickdale Hotel & Spa

This hotel is overlooking and next to the M1, road goes through the hotel complex and very dangerous. Scenery is horrific. Food was not good quality, coffee not included in breakfast, reception is chaotic, loud and dirty. Rude staff. Bath and shower don’t work properly.

We just got back from an amazing stay at the Carrickdale Hotel, We stayed from Tuesday to Friday, two adults and two kids, and honestly, it was one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. First off, the location is fantastic—nestled right between the beautiful Mourne mountains. The place is beautiful, clean and well-maintained, and the grounds are just gorgeous. There's a lovely secret garden cafe where we had some of the best pizzas, burgers, and coffee. It's such a cozy spot! Our first night, we ate in the hotel's restaurant, and it was fantastic. Shout out to Caroline, our waitress, who was so friendly and great with our kids. She made us feel right at home and nothing was too much trouble for her. The leisure center was a big hit with all of us. They provide robes and slippers so you can comfortably walk from your room to the pool, and towels are ready for you there. Such nice touches! There's also a mini-golf course and a cute little playground in the garden. Our kids had a blast and were entertained the whole time. On our last day, we tried the food in the bar, and once again, it didn't disappoint. Everything was delicious, and the service was spot on. Prices were very reasonable too, which is always a plus. As someone with coeliac disease, I was thrilled with the gluten-free options available everywhere, even in the garden cafe. They had a gluten-free pizza option, which is pretty rare to find. Breakfasts were a highlight with choices like full Irish, vegetarian, gluten-free options, and even a healthy breakfast salad. The kids loved the pancakes! Times for breakfast are 7 - 11 which gave us SO much time without once having to panic or rush down for breakfast! It's also cooked fresh to order - no cold eggs or soggy sausages!! The rooms were spacious and comfy, with a shower and jacuzzi bath. The temperature was perfect, not too hot or cold. We felt so relaxed and at home. Overall, the Carrickdale Hotel has such a friendly atmosphere. Everyone we met was smiling and happy to help with anything we needed. It truly felt like a home away from home. It's real old school Irish hospitality that is often lacking in most places these days! I wish we could have stayed longer, and I can't recommend this place enough. If you're looking for a family-friendly, welcoming, and beautiful hotel, this is it!

Stayed here few times, so welcoming & cosy upon arrival, with xmas decor & fire lit. Place was buzzing as its New Years Day! All staff are a credit to this hotel, plenty on duty and all super friendly. No queue at reception & room ready an hr before checkin. The Carvery was delicious, although the so called stuffing, was just bread crumbs. So lovely to see that the end of food service, the staff get to plate up some carvery, for there lunch. Well deserved, giving up there special to wait on us lot and fairplay to Carrickdale, looking after there staff. Rooms where grand, big king Koil mattress spot on. Breakfast nice, again plenty of staff at hand. I had a walk rd the secret garden, helped with the cure. Beautiful wee spot.. Thankyou to all Team

We had our staff Christmas party here on the 7th Dec we also had a local Awards night in Oct to say that the carrickdale staff know how to pull off a function is an understatement. There was 550 at the awards and they serviced and fed all like a military operation with hot food and a smile and even better at the Xmas nigh, the staff here are incredibly well trained hard working Excellent food excellent events management teams a very special nod to Michelle the event manager on the Xmas night. Well done Carrickdale best hotel service I have seen in a very long time

We recently stayed at the Carrickdale for our third December in a row. Yet again we could not fault our stay. We feel that at the Carrickdale the service from staff is second to none and we are always made feel so welcomed and well looked after. We first stayed in the Carrickdale in Dec 2022, got married there in Dec 2023 and have just returned from another unforgettable stay. This time around, we had the pleasure of availing of the Serenity Spa facilities and enjoying a delicious meal in the Bar. We would like to give a special mention to Rachel who was our wedding coordinator and we got to meet again when checking into the hotel. Rachel always goes above and beyond to make you feel so appreciated as a customer of the hotel, thank you! There aren’t many hotels in Ireland where you see that, year after year they have the same staff members and this goes to show that the Carrickdale is truly a lovely environment to be in. Absolutely beautiful hotel the room was fablous beds so comfortable pillow like clouds food amazing and every member of staff so so nice the pool facilities were perfe t great night in this hotel would definitely recommend highly to all my friends and family thank you carrickdale
