Visited for lunch in the afternoon with my family. 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Service and food was lovely. Such friendly owner and staff. Food was lovely and brilliant pub food. Would definitely return being such a nice area. Perfect for what we wanted and needed. There are also lovely rooms to stay in if needing a place to stay over. Thank you.

Came with Spanish friends to show them a proper pub it was lovely a good set lunch on a Sunday. The food quality was top notch with a nice range of drinks in a traditional environment. The lady who served us was lovely to. We will be back one day for sure.

The pub frontage of the Farmers Inn was tidy and cosy-looking; the parking yard, which separates a single-storey block of guestrooms from the pub, looked scruffy and in need of a tidy-up in stormy late-afternoon light. The pub lounge interior was as cosy and tidy as the frontage, with a small bar; overnight guests could enter through a back door past the kitchen -- a fact we didn't realize until we saw other people entering from the car-park. (Better signage would have helped.) The evening meal was excellent, especially the beef pie and veg. My room, #4, was a double-double, very spacious, with a new bathroom. The soft furnishings could have done with a sprucing up, but nothing problematic. What was a problem was a mysterious noise -- like a firework going off whiiiizzzzzz-bang! every five minutes, throughout my one-night stay. It wasn't really annoying until I was settling down for the night (I'd written it off as some sort of fog-warning noise during the bad weather earlier), and then it kept me awake for hours. I mentioned it to the management the next morning, and it was ascribed to issues with water-taps not being turned off completely; my friend heard a different whirring noise most of the night, but not the bang. I hope management can deal with the various plumbing noises and tidy up the property a bit. The pub is worth staying at -- and maybe bring ear-plugs if you're a difficult sleeper.

Very comfortable and excellent value, the rooms are spacious and bathrooms well equipped, and breakfast just what we like. Colin was a wonderful host. We ate in the pub on the Saturday evening too, with a great specials menu.

We had some friends coming to stay and thought we'd try the Farmers arms for the first time since we moved to Dumfries. We booked a table for 1930 thinking they'd be hungry after travelling. Now through no-ones fault the M6 had major delays and I phoned the pub to let them know what had happened and we'd be a bit late. "we stop serving food at 9" was the very tepid response. We managed to get to the place at 2050 after driving like a loon from Hetland where they were staying to be met with the most curmudgeonly bar keep I've ever encountered in my travels around the world. The food was pretty lacklustre and the atmosphere was, shall we say, stony and rushed. The bill was a pretty reasonable £90 for 4 of us with drinks but not a smile or "thanks for your custom and the effort of rushing to get to see us". Shame as we'd have been regular visitors if it was good.

Stopped off here by chance on our way back from playing in the Mixed Open Competition at Powfoot Golf Club, we hadn’t booked a table but the nice young lady behind the bar managed to fit us in and we are SO glad she did, we had a 2 course meal which was reasonably priced and can honestly say it was the best food we’ve tasted in a long time and could match any of the top restaurants we’ve been to in some 30 years of eating out throughout the UK. I had the vegetable wellington which was absolutely delicious and my partner had the roast beef which he thoroughly enjoyed too. We both had the lemon meringue sundae which was “to die for”!! Thank you to the staff and wonderful chef for such a beautiful meal which hopefully we can enjoy again when we return for next year’s golf competition and we’ll be sure to phone ahead and reserve a table next time. THANK YOU!!

An excellent facility for an overnight stay. We were made most welcome on arrival. A very comfortable bed, excellent shower and an excellent full Scottish breakfast.

Proper country pub, characterful with pleasant staff and friendly locals. Stayed one night to break a long journey with the family. Food was good quality, and excellent value. A round of drinks was under £10, including a couple of alcoholic drinks. Accommodation was very well decorated and clean and tidy, with good bathroom and shower. This was also very reasonably priced. Breakfast was good, and rolled into cost of the stay. Would happily go back.
