Merryweather Inn was the best! The room was so comfy and clean, I slept like a baby. Beth was super nice and helpful—she told us where to eat and about fun things to do. The breakfast was amazing, she made buckwheat pancakes and they were fluffy and delicious. I would definitely stay here again.

When we arrived our room key was not in our room. I sent a text to the owner and was told that she would look into it. No apology. That set the tone for what was to come. Our room had a picture (that had clearly fallen off of the wall due to a broken screw) sitting on top of a filthy armoire. There were pieces of metal in one of the dresser drawers. There was a broken fan stored under the closet/ clothes rack. Perhaps the owner thought that we weren't going to use any of these for storing our clothes?? It was obvious that little care was taken when decorating/setting up the room. The television was installed with very little care. There was a picture placed over what looked like a patch job on the bathroom wall. The bathroom sink needed to be cleaned with a little more care (brown scum build-up). We were told that breakfast was promptly at 8:30 and that we should not be late. The first morning my bacon was half cooked. Not what we considered to be a "gourmet" breakfast. The second morning we were waiting in the dining room as a man came walking through carrying a container of eggs. Needless to say, breakfast was not ready at 8:30. There was no silverware on the table. When someone let her know that we needed silverware she came back in with a hand full of napkins and a hand full of silverware. She said,"I'm not rolling them" and handed both to the first person to pass around the table!!! The eggs were runny, the potatoes were burnt, and the ham was cold. The grounds received equal attention. The only impressive thing was that the bed was very comfortable. I agree with some of the other reviewers that this place has great potential. However, until it reaches that point...don't waste your money. I do not mind paying more for accommodations if the quality warrants it. This doesn't even come close! I do blame myself for not reading through all of the reviews. If I would have done that I would have known by the owners response to the negative ones that this was not a wise choice.

I surprised my wife with a getaway for our 20th wedding anniversary. We arrived on Saturday and access was easy and convenient. The house is beautifully decorated and the owner Beth was very pleasant. We were a little nervous about what we would be served for breakfast being more diner breakfast people than gourmet breakfast people but breakfast both mornings were delicious and more than enough food to start the day. We got to meet Beth's two dogs and we had a nice conversation with Beth and her father during breakfast. We stayed in the Bailey Alcott room and it was very large and comfortable with a sitting area and cribbage board to play a few games. The room was clean and we had bottled water and glasses waiting for for us in the room when we arrived. It was exactly what you would expect from a stay at a B & B. Peace and quiet. It felt like we had the whole house to ourselves. My only regret was not asking for a whole house tour. We will definitely go back again for our next special occasion. I read some of the early reviews and you should take them with a grain of salt as this B & B is fairly new and there's always kinks to work out as you get established. Thank you Beth for our stay. It was well worth it.

We loved every little bit of our time here! We spent 2 nights here, we were the only people staying and Beth let us take a peek in all of the rooms and they were all stunning! The beds and pillow were super comfortable and I’m now on the hunt for pillows that soft! The breakfasts were great, very delicious and filling. Beth was a very sweet person, gave us ideas on what to do in town, told us details about the house history, and let us pet her two adorable poof ball puppies! We hope we can stay again sometime in the future to see what she does with the place!

My husband surprised me with a weekend stay in Duluth over New Years and to have a calm weekend before he has major surgery. Calm and relaxing is the opposite of what I felt after leaving, instead I felt disrespected and completely duped. Before booking, my husband reached out to the owner to ask if she had photos of the claw foot tub in the Rockefeller room, since I love tubs and he was looking to treat me. She simply said ‘no’. I realize this is a very simple complaint, but it is too easy to take a quick picture, even with a cell phone and quickly send it off, that it comes off as poor customer service not to. From there when we arrived, we were greeted and welcomed by the dad. He was delightful and it’s too bad he isn’t the one handling all of the guest experiences. As for the room itself, we have no idea what the ‘theme’ was. It was a weird mixture of Native American, Roman Columns, Trains, Chinese Scrolls, and anything that seemed more than 50 years old. After a long travel, we were rather thirsty but there were no waters or anything in the room. There was a decanter of something that looked like water but we have no idea how long it had been there and there were no glasses around so we had to go to a gas station for waters. In the morning we went down for breakfast. The dining room had one communal table and the guests sit around it. When we entered the room, there was a lady in the corner playing on her phone so for a minute or two we just awkwardly sat there until we decided to seat ourselves. She then came over to us and asked what we did last night. She never introduced herself but we assume this was Beth. For breakfast, she explained that since she went out for New Years and was hungover that we would be getting hangover food. So the ‘gourmet’ meal was bland scrambled eggs, two slices of bacon, and a half peeled orange like I was a toddler. The coffee matched the meal and was the most flavorless coffee I have ever had and was watered down to where I thought it was tea. During breakfast we asked if she had any waters we could bring up, and she said ‘no, we just use tap water’ and walked away. No offer to provide us with glasses or directions to a store. Fast forward to that evening, we decided that if we wanted a good breakfast in the morning that we should ask what they are serving because If it was the same disgusting eggs that we would go somewhere else. When asked what was on the menu, instead of just providing an answer, she avoided it by telling us to let her know if we were going to be there or not. The next morning when we go down for breakfast, we ask what is on the menu so we can decide if we should go anywhere and she respond with ‘why is there is a problem?!’ When we tell her that we were disappointed that we didn’t receive the gourmet meal that her website mentions, she makes it seem like it is our fault for expecting that and being disappointed and we should have told her we were upset so she could have made it right
