Coco Riverside Lodge

Only sent one night here and that was not enough !! Beautiful surroundings , peaceful and relaxing. Staff couldn’t do enough for you ❤️ Definitely one to check out if you are in the area and looking for a stay ……………………………………………………………………………..

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Fun cooking evening. And our Lodge was very clean and spacious… much better than the brochure. There’s lots to do and see, cycle rides, boat rides, rope factories, coconut mat factories and lots of cottage workshops. You really get a feel for how people live here.

A wonderful place to relax and enjoy your surroundings. The accommodation is nice and spacious and bright , surroundings are lovely , river view, flowers and shrubs so pretty. Food is nice and our trips were v interesting we loved the cycle ride. Staff are very nice and helpful and the owner Hue very knowledgable, I wish we had stayed 3 nights and relaxed more. You are in a rural area so good to make sure you have mosquito repellant if you are a person who gets bites. We did 3 weeks in Vietnam with our family, everyone liked this place and wished we had stayed longer.

We travelled from Saigon which was a 4 hour journey with a stop. Ideally we should have stayed 2 nights rather than 1 to make the most of the opportunity and lessen the impact of the travelling. We met the owner who was very welcoming; the Lodge provides employment for his family and neighbours and there is a nice feel about the place. Service is very good and everyone is friendly. We were happy with the location and the amenities on offer. The room was clean and tidy. Having visited the Vietnam War Museum the day before, we were humbled to meet an actual VC veteran. He was happy to answer our questions and play some Vietnamese folk music for us by candle light. We enjoyed both the bike trip through the countryside and the river boat trip; wish we could have had longer on both. We didn’t tip any individual - porter, waiting staff, tour guide, housekeeper etc - preferring to tip once at checkout. Tips are shared equally across all staff which feels like a nice thing to do. If you do visit, I hope you’re lucky to share some rice wine with a Một, hai, ba, dzô!

Unfortunately we only booked 2 nights and sincerely we should stay at least 3 or 4 The staff is perfect !!! We have 2 super cottages as we are 5 adults and 2 kids (8 and 2). The cottages are very clean and comfortable, in front of the river with an astounding view The staff is so friendly that we feel as we are with family and friends. Meals are good , breakfast is copious Activities were organized as we asked for (tuk tuk ride, Boat tour, Champa village etc.. We had a cooking lesson and each one can cook his own Bánh xèo, One thing that I personally appreciated is that kids here are kings. They grow their own vegetables and condiments Be sure that here you'll find and appreciate here another way of life , far from the cities and air pollution. Hope one day we will go back. Its quite hard to write a review about this place as it is not like any place we have been before and every travel will experience this differently. It is very basic with a simple buisness structure and very few amenities but to us this somehow adds to its charm, warmth and character. The place is owned and run by a (youngish but) retired couple who have many years experience in the hospitality/tourist trade, who make you feel like you are being invited to their home, which of course your are... its absolutely shoes off, epecially in the public dining area and your private lodge. The owner grew up here and the property has been developed from a private family homestead to a tourist base by the addition of a simple open sided canopied eating area and a separate fenced garden area housing 7 lodges. Marketing material says 5 but we did see 7 in use by (apparently) European guests. The only access to Coco Riverside is on foot (or on two wheels), luggage is brought in by staff on the back of mopeds and guest walk the uneven pavement for 5 minutes or so to get there (about 300-500m). Pedal cycles are stored at the side of each lodge for free use to explore, but please, fully check yours if using. Our touring bikes were set up and prepared ready for us one morning by the hotel and we just expected them to be fine but hubby found he had no working brakes whilst we were out and had to do a quick 'moving' repair on the go whilst exploring. Good job he's a 'know-how' kind of bloke as i'd have been useless and terrified. Our lodge was central of the plot and on our first day it was truly serene as we were the only guests on site. In fact, it even felt a lttle 'forgotten' as darkness grew in, but eventually someone came and switch some pavement/wall lights on and it felt cosier. Rooms have a beautiful outlook across the river and feel idillic (which is only marred by the hidden residencies on the opposite side of the river who are passionate about their evening kareoke (like most places in Vietnam). We did suspect that having guests in neighbouring lodges might detract from the privacy which was bourne out on the second day but not to a great detriment as the lodges are partially staggered. It was very convenient to have the river pier right outside the lodges, both for coming and going, and we enjoyed the varied trips and activities our local guide had planned in conjunction with the hotel using their onsite river boat and driver... it seemed like everything we did was connected to a family cottage industry in some way related to the hotel. Many of the activities offer a great and deeply personal insight into the local natural Vietnamese people, seeing the palm weaving, coconut rope making factory, frog farming etc and we loved it all. All bar one that is. One seemingly compulsory activity was to visit the resident Viet Kong War Veteran who lives co-located on the property and is related to the owner.
