I can honestly say that it was way beyond our expectations. The house itself was gorgeous as was the million dollar view we had from our room. The room was clean and beautiful. The breakfast was top notch, as was the history info we got from Simon (the owner) during. The staff was also so wonderful. My wife and I will be back and we will recommend The Hancock House to anyone. We'll done owner and staff. We are not easily impressed, but we are this time!!!!

Beautiful antique house from yesteryear with lots of character and a great view of the city. Each room has its own unique theme. Bed was comfortable and room was clean. Steps away from the steep steps leading into the downtown area and multiple breweries & coffee shops. Breakfast was nice. Driving distance to Galena and the field of dreams. If I ever ended up in this area again, I'd stay here in a heartbeat. Thanks Simon!

The Hancock House is a beautiful historic home with beautiful rooms for your stay. Your host Simon is friendly, hospitable, and welcoming and has great recommendations for places to see and places to eat! I would love to go back again! Thanks again Simon!!

We stayed in the premium room (Library) on the ground floor after an interesting check-in. The innkeeper does not answer calls or texts promptly so you may stand outside the door for a while. Parking is down the hill and you drag your bags up a steep incline and up tall porch steps to get inside. Others had to further drag their things upstairs to their rooms. On a positive side, the house details are beautiful and the view from the large porch each day was stunning. There was coffee and cups so I made a pot each morning. Some snacks were out to stave off hunger until you drove to your breakfast spot. Can't walk from here as it's on the side of a cliff. Public spaces are quite lovely and I felt like I was leasing a room at a museum, that finely detailed. Overall, worth the money.

If you want the experience of staying in a beautiful Victorian mansion on a bluff above the Mississippi River this is the place. We stayed in the room known as the library. I had the best nights sleep away from home. Simon yhe owner has done so much work in rehabbing the place. He is also very knowledgeable about the history of the mansion and the town. Had a very nice breakfast also. Thank you.

First off, this place is so beautiful. Located within walking distance of everything. Simon, the host is so friendly and accommodating. Such a unique experience! We loved every second of it. He told us stories of where all the furniture pieces came from & a little history of the house.

Very disappointed. For such a well known location terrible experience, house full of underage girls 13&14 smoking vapes and ****, and they were able to stay there for free due to a family member being the cleaner. Extremely disappointed!

My wife picked a weekend stay for us at The Hancock House while I was away on a business trip. So I basically had no input but I like to stay in the Dubuque area when we are visiting Galena. Wow. The Hancock House did not disappoint. We parked on the street in from of the house. We were met by Simon as we rang to get in. Simon gave us some recommendations as we were looking to book a closeby dinner. We stayed in the Dollhouse room which has a very nice view overlooking the city. The jacuzzi with the view made our stay. Perfect relaxation from a long work week. Nice comfy bed, plenty of room in the bathroom. Immediate hot water in the shower. Had a very nice breakfast and Simon shared some history of The Hancock House. We met other guests and had a very nice conversation about where we were all from and headed for the day. The house itself is spectacular. The fireplace downstairs is a site to behold. As we've stayed in Dubuque plenty of times before, my only regret is that we hadn't picked The Hancock House on any of our previous trips. My wife made a good call and we will be staying at The Hancock House on our next trip to Dubuque.
