The Chesterhouse

Firstly don’t ever believe the photos you see on the web. This hotel looked ok in the photos with big spacious room and bay window. What we got was a run down box room with animal hair on the carpet located at the rear of the hotel. The bed was tiny the walls dirty and the bathroom was awful. The noise of drunken people all night in the alley behind us never allowed us a good sleep. No air conditioning or even a fridge. Getting to your room via a tiny lift, narrow corridors and a maze of stairs up and down via prison like doors makes for a unhappy stay. Like I say, don’t believe the web photos!!! At first we were in a room at the back of the hotel. We had to open the window as it was hot, the noise from seagulls and extractor fan was very loud. We asked if we could be moved and the staff were brilliant, moving us to a sea view large room which was lovely. The manager and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was lovely and the evening meals were delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

Had a great girly weekend at this lovely hotel. Weekend was made extra special by the amazing staff. Special thank you to the restaurant staff Joy and Kim who went that extra mile. Reception staff made us welcome as soon as we walked in. Hotel clean and breakfast was delicious. Thanks again for a great weekend. Highly recommended

Exceeded our expectations. Lovely staff, room was gorgeous nicely decorated and modern with everything you need. First floor with a sea view room would highly recommend. Breakfast was fantastic and location spot on. Would definitely return. 100% value for money.

Beautiful clean spacious room, obviously recently refurbished. Very warm welcome, all staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Food good with plenty of choice. Lift was a bit ancient but it worked…..at all times, unlike many other newer hotels we’ve stayed in! Nothing not to like, would definitely use again if we are lucky enough to return to the Isle of Man.

The staff are lovely, helpful and friendly. It’s a pity there are no blinds at the dining room windows as the sun is blinding at breakfast, but the food is plentiful and wholesome, if a bit basic. Our room was clean and comfortable but it was at the back of the hotel. This meant it was very noisy at night as Douglas is a party town and there are lots of nightclubs and pubs nearby. Th exterior of the hotel is very tired and needs decorating, although the interior has been refurbished. It is right o. The promenade so central for the town.
