The Penta

Nice and quiet, very clean, complimentary continental style breakfast set me up for the day. Nice large room at the back of the property with no view which didn't bother me in the slightest as there was no road noise .Previous review mentioned a smell of tar? at the back of the building I had the windows permanently open and no odours whatsoever.The receptionist/ maid was extremely friendly and polite. I would not hesitate to stay again.

I had the pleasure of staying here for 3 nights and 4 days, and as it was my first time on the IOM I had no idea what to expect of the island, hotel, or the people. But it's a lovely island, very friendly people, and the hotel is very clean and central location overlooking the beach and bay. Hotel staff are warm and friendly too. I'll definitely be returning to the island, and I would recommend the Penta Hotel and stay again if possible.

Hotels in Douglas can be a bit of a lottery but The Penta (and the parent hotel The Regency) are definitely among the best of them. I booked a special offer which worked out very reasonably priced given the decent quality of accomodation. Second time visiting the hotel and both times I was pleased with the hotel. Room very spacious, quiet and clean. Nice ensuite bathroom. Booking was simple online and check in was easy via their telephone/keybox. Good location on the Douglas prom. Would stay again.

My room was pretty large. It was also quiet and clean. Even though the building was old, the room had been refurbished up to modern standards. However the stairs up were narrow, just like they typically are in old buildings. There was complimentary continental breakfast available for all guests. It had toast, cereals, yoghurt, juices, coffee and tea. The location was on the Promenade in an area where there were mostly only hotels. The front desk was open only in the morning, but things were organized well also after it closed. The reception was run remotely from a nearby hotel and there was a phone for calling them. When checking in, the room key was stored in a lockbox and the code for opening it was given over the phone.

Everything everyone has said in the reviews I agree with. However, I would say that the hotel is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. My sister and I , both in our 70’s, found the steps up to the front door hard work. The lift was out of order one afternoon until mid breakfast the following day. We had to use the stairs. I luckily was on the first floor so just one flight on my hands and knees. The main problem was there was no handrail. I think this could be a safety issue and should be addressed by the hotel management. Just a note, all hotels on that stretch of front has the same steps to negotiate. You

A budget hotel. No full time reception. The rooms are clean, spacious. Breakfast is toast and tea affair. Well situated on the prom. Lift to higher floors. Tea and coffee in rooms. Some with big bath. Only down side toooo hoooot. It was like a sauna even the corridors.
