The reception and cleaning staff were very good. Restaurant staff must have hada hard season. Food was the worst I've ever experienced. All hot food cold normal light bulbs above hot plates. Only saw animation team when they ate their meals.

The hotel is clean and tidy but is in need of an update . We hadn’t read any reviews before booking so can only blame ourselves. If you are elderly or have mobility issues , it’s not necessarily the hotel for you! No lifts and lots of steps ! The hot food at lunch and dinner were disappointing but it saved the waistline from expanding 😂 The pool is lovely but the access into the sea is not easy. No beach towels provided , but we used our room towels. A sea taxi very nearby to take you into Trogir which is definitely worth a visit , a lovely ancient town with narrow cobbled streets and dozens of restaurants with lots of choice. If you’re a foody this is not the hotel for you but there are restaurants within a very short walk of the hotel !

Fabulous location. Hotel entrance, was dark, depressing and dated. We always found something to eat, but must admit breakfast was very unusual, ie sprout and cauliflower. The sweets were a pleasure. We loved Trogir, fabulous place and a must see. We used the water taxi, 8 euros return. To walk takes over 30 minutes. Overall the hotel requires renovation, although our room, number 506 was clean and comfortable. The views from our balcony were breathtaking. The whole site includes lots of steps, possibly problematic for folk with difficulties. Apart from the pool area a concrete platform provides sunbathing area and access to the sea. Steel ladders enable swimmers to get in and out, but are slippery and possibly hazardous. The staff were good, a special mention to Ady. Whereas Leonardo alias ‘Happy Harry’ serving at the outside bar…..well! He was just rude. Also on some afternoons the outside bar was closed. We loved Croatia and intend to return, but not to Hotel Val.

This is a 3-star hotel so expectations were that we would be staying in an average hotel however if it wasn't for the location it would definitely be a 2 star. The room was clean if a little dated but we had ants all over the balcony and at one point my wife had a man brushing them off her back when we were queuing for our meal. You are paying for the view only NOT the service, amenities, entertainment (unless you are French) or the food. Service; all the staff were pleasant with the exception of Leonardo on the terrace bar. He never once made eye contact let alone interacted with either of us when we went for a drink, but did with the French and Croatians. Mustiko was lovely as were all the Indonesian staff. The room was 'cleaned' daily. When I say 'cleaned ' I mean they folded the bed sheet and emptied the bin. Wedding get clean towels once. end of. Amenities; None. Entertainment; The animation team got the crowd going every evening. Unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy or take part as it was all in French so couldn't understand what was being said. This was a shame because there was nothing else to do in the hotel so we missed out greatly. Food; The food! Pros - Beautifully cooked beef/pork, both in delicious sauces. Fresh bread daily. Nice selection of sweets. Cons - Cauliflower or sprouts for breakfast. Deep fried greasy french toast. Leftover meat from dinner used for tea. Powdered mashed potato which was a wet slop. Powdered egg for the scrambled eggs. Pasta pasta pasta. Cheap coffee and only hot vendored powdered milk available for tea drinkers. The cocktail drinks are from a machine so not what you would expect a cocktail to be, more like a cheap watered down version. This hotel is sea front but not beach front. There simply isn't a beach but a concrete concourse with steps provided into the water. It has a few little concreted platforms along the walkway with sun loungers, if your lucky enough to get one. The area is beautiful, having the marina and Trogir (a must-visit) not far with easy access in regular taxi boats and in the opposite direction is a very calm relaxed selection of small stone beaches and shops. Just past these through the woods is a cove, perfect for swimming and fish spotting. A kingfisher nearly landed on my head! We even had a visiting Praying Mantis in our room. So....don't expect much from the hotel and you won't be disappointed. The view however is cracking overlooking Cîovo.

Staff is excellent. Every encounter, service, and also Eklata animation team were amazing . I do not have enough words for their engagement, effort and kindness . For all the animation activities. I can not say this for the food. Not tasty, many things are frosen ( cevapici for example etc...),not decently cut, but apparently not inviting...in the rooms you can smell mold...many things unkempt . It would be ok for the cheaper price , specially it is too expensive for three star .

Room was a good size, clean and functional. Would have been nice to have a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. Hotel staff were all really lovely, food was delicious. The view was gorgeous and the pool was lovely, although it was initially cold (it was May, so to be expected). Entertainment in the evening was brilliant. We happened to be there the week of Eurovision, so everything was on that theme. My friend and I are not fans, but really got into the spirit of it all.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Hotel Val . (early MAY 2024 ).. Our room was located in one of the adjacent blocks to the main hotel block .The entrance door to the room was via an open walkway, The room itself was a bit on the small side , and had two single beds pushed together . They were very comfy and the room was clean with a large amount of storage /wardrobe space . We had to unplug the bedside lamps to charge phones etc, only one spare socket under the dressing table unit (maybe for a fridge in the past ) . The bathroom had a 1970 style corner shower cubical (approx 750mm x 750mm ) but again the bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water from the heater located above the toilet.. The balcony /patio area at the rear of the room was large and was shared by the other 5/6 rooms on your level .. This would be great if you had friends or family on holiday with you and had smaller children. These blocks have 3 levels and may not be clear on some sites , Garden rooms at the bottom with small balconies/areas and some surrounded with plants ,shrubs trees , Second level with shared patio area as pre mentioned and third level with small balcony , with access again with open walkways . The Food was a bit limited especial the salad bar, there was plenty of meat, pork beef ,lamb , fish based dishes (vegetarians may find it a bit difficult ). There was always something you could find to make a meal up,, deserts were good so my wife tells me but during our week we never had ice cream once. Staff in the bar and restaurant especial Andrea, Marieanne, and the Indonesian waitress ( who always had a happy smile ). Did not use the entertainments in the day time ,only at night ,they seemed to put a real lot of effort into entertaining all guest , Polish, Dutch, British ,French , and German etc . It could be difficult if you have mobility walking problems lots of irregular size steps some very high including the pool . Easy flat walk into Trogir through the old village of Seget Donji and the very impressive marina with the "super boats" ,BUT this year 2024 there are extensive civil works on pavements and roadway into the town , but when passed these , lovely market stalls ,and waterways ,old fortress. Recommend crossing over the the island via the bridge and the old town . Trogir has a main bus terminal where you can get busses to Split (and airport ) in the south and up to Zadar in the north . Most of the photos on various sites seem to be outdated ,especial the "manicured " gardens and have got much more growth then represented. Access into the sea can be a bit difficult and there are no swimming pool type steps as shown on some sites. There is a sloping area but this is VERY slippy (could be difficult for small children) Found it was easier to walk up the path a little bit and you can get in the sea much easier . Recommend getting some "sea shoes "as quite stony , not just here but other parts of Croatia We had a very enjoyab

Probably the worst experience, the staff were so rude. One of them even shouted to my little brother just for taking the ketchup bottle. They are absolutely horrible and aggressive. Just to let you know, DO NOT COME HERE! The double rooms aint double. It is 2 single beds joint together which meant every night the beds will split apart. No terrace in any of them and this hotel is a complete disaster. Never recommend
