We stayed at this Blue Horizon about 4 times before Covid, and we always liked it. During our recent stay, there were still a lot of things we liked. The rooms are clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room rates are good. The breakfast is excellent. The beds are on the hard side, but that is common in China. You can tell the hotel is getting a little old as it was built in 1994. However, it has been kept in very good condition, and many of the rooms seem like they have been remodeled. The big negative for us was the air conditioning. It was hot in Dongying while we were there. Even when the air conditioning is running normally, it does not work very well. The only control in the room is a fan speed control, and even at high speed, the room does not cool very well. The problem is that they turn off the air conditioning system for hours during the day and night. When the air conditioning was off, the room would get very hot. It was so uncomfortable, that we were forced to check out and move to a different hotel. Apparently the Blue Horizon is having financial problems, and I am guessing that they turn off the air conditioning system to save money. We also heard that the employees are not being paid regularly. That is unfortunate because the employees at this hotel are wonderful.

I was very satisfied with my stay at Xicheng Hotel. I was very touched by the service from the front desk to the floor. In addition to tea, the front desk also provided hot towels. When the floor learned that I was staying with the elderly, they also provided a foot bath and good night porridge. They also gave me fruit in the evening. The breakfast was also very rich and complete in variety. The room price was also very affordable. Parking was very convenient and the parking lot was large.
