The resort was absolutely beautiful! 5 star service with amazing food and views. The lobster and steak dinners were the best Ive ever had. Mix that with a home made fresh pina colada and you are in heaven ! I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking to find paradise !

You are in a different country with different languases, people and habits, but that is the whole idea right? Respect the culture and people and give them a smile, you always get a smile back! No resort is living up to your own standards, but you are not here tot rate the resort, you are here on holiday, might as well enjoy it! Viva Dominican Palace by Whindham got it all, you just have to see it. From busy pools and buffet restaurants to quite places on the beach and fine dining at the restaurants, It’s your choice to party or to get some rest. My personal standards are pretty high, but had a wonderfull time, thank you staff for your hospitality and kindness, i will be back! Tip: at your first day, walk around the 2 resorts to see it all, so you know where to go and what to do, there is something for everyone and more!

Firstly we were looking at the comments on this and was looking forward to the hotel  with some comments saying don't come here The hotel rooms are very basic but you are out and about not staying in the them ever day, the room we had were 2 small doubles, come with a fridge ( stocked with coke sprite ) but only on your first day coming after that you get bottles off water ever day. We had a air con merchine but was not working so turned It off was blowing hot air,  but left main air con on and door shuts and keep the blinds shut it's nice and cold when coming back in. The gardens are beautiful we had room 6165 lovely view off the gardens and can see the sea . The WiFi is good in the main building and pool bar. Poor in room some times it works. Food: it's all inclusive but there always something to find, if you think you're get a full English you won't but still have bacon hash browns eggs Sausages. Pool/ beach Pool is very very loud and the entertainment team don't speak in English. So don't really come up to you. The beach is the best place loads off sun beds free, the sea is beautiful but can still hear the loud music from the pool area on the sand but once in the sea can't here nothing. for more quite head towards the pier but once in the sea it's beautiful. See plenty off fish around your feet so bring your snorkels. Night entertainment Head down to the sister hotel beach viva  the guy speak all languages so you can understand what there going on about. It's a late start 9:45 but it's very funny and good. You can use there bar, pool dinners. the entertainment in the hotel doesn't speak in English. ( place viva ) We booked the restaurants there have here we went to the one on the sea front ( viva cafe )  and the Chinese one twice as it was amazing food so recommend this one Can't remember the name I would come back to the island again but not to the hotel, the pool music and shouting kills it off just over the top a little bit Tip.. bring flask with you can fill them up with anything bar staff don't mind

Very good hotel on the most beautifull part of playa dominicus, beautifull sea without seaweed. Good a la carte restaurants, there are 9 of them in total. Nicer people than in Punta Cana. All I needed was more types of rum on the bar. Nice excursions from the hotel.

having read the reviews i was a little apprehensive but ended up very pleased with the hotel. As stated english is not widely spoken by a lot of the staff but between my limited spanish and thankfully the staffs ability to understand gestures it wasn’t a problem. room we had was dated but the whole resort is very clean x found the main pool too loud with entertainment but found a quieter one which we made full use of. the beaches are beautiful and sunset stunning, watch out for the waves especially if windy, had to have help from a kindly lifeguard just to get out of the sea we loved the a la carte especially il palco and special shout out to maria who was really lovely and a credit to the restaurant ☺️ lots of choice in the main buffet to hence the half a stone gain ‍♀️ mosquito repellent a must and my mate took a handheld fan which we fought over as the humidity is a challenge. the promotion guys get a bit irritating trying to get you to sign up as a member but they accept no thanks eventually. the lady who served us coffee in the reception bar was the friendliest of all the staff we met, can’t remember her name but began with an A, the coffee is delicious and she always did a little design on ours which was really cheerful and happy all the time however the hotel should consider a review of the staff on reception, the lady we met on arriving nearly made us feel like booking another hotel, she gave us a key for a room that was occupied, thankfully the people were dressed but she made us feel we were at fault. i didn’t get her name but she had long hair and wore glasses, by far the rudest person we encountered. But everyone else was fab and we had a great holiday so thank you to the hotel

I have just returned from this hotel having stayed 3rd - 17th May. I won’t lie, I was a little worried about this trip after reading some bad reviews recently, however I can assure people you will have a great time here. The hotel grounds are beautiful with lots of wildlife wondering around - the geese were my personal favourites. The beach is unreal & by far the best of the area. I know people complain about dated rooms, but ours was perfectly fine. It was big, bright, everything worked (except for the Wi-Fi which was the only major negative) and had a lovely view from the balcony. Food, I will agree with others that it is hit or miss but you will always find something & never go hungry. Just a tip, the bar staff at La Papaya during the day are the best so I’d definitely recommend getting drinks there. For me personally though the biggest highlight of this hotel was the animacion team, who work tirelessly to ensure you have a good vacation. They put on a range of activities to cater for everyone throughout the day including yoga, body blade, crazy games, dance lessons, aqua gym (even in the rain!), Zumba, bingo etc. They are also the same people who are part of the evening shows & then dance with guests afterwards in the Placita for different themed nights. They work so hard! They are engaging, funny, extremely friendly & will always greet you with a big smile. I suffer really badly with anxiety, but they made me feel at ease enough to join in with the activities, which is a huge deal and says a lot about how good they are at their jobs. Between them they speak many different languages too, so if you don’t speak spanish you can still participate and understand what is going on. I know people go on holiday to relax, but if I can give anyone any advice at all, it would be to join in with at least one activity as I can guarantee you’ll have so much fun with the animacion team you’ll want to participate more. They really are an asset to the hotel & I hope that management knows/acknowledges this. Viva Palace wouldn’t be the same experience that it is without the annimacion team it currently has and I hope that they get the recognition they deserve. So I just want to take a second to shout out to Sara, Samir, Maria, Ana, Andy, Pablo, Julienne and also give a big shout out to Lilu too. Thank you to you all for making this holiday so much fun!! P.s for anyone staying at this hotel, you will get the theme song “La Fiesta Viva” stuck in your head for days afterwards!

No plates, glasses,or bowls in the restaurants cold food at all meal times if the serving trays weren't empty and this is even when they have just opened for meals, the staff are unfriendly lazy, miserable and could do with a lot of traing on hospitality, e had no hot water in the rooms for 24 hours and after travelling for around 12 hours all you want to do is take a shower we complained about this to be told we are working on it yet no alternative room was offered and the tui rep was no help what so ever, it was as if because we were English they didn't want to know, We were also told there were no kyacks available unless we had made a reservation yet they sat empty on the beach for over 3 hours. Please do not waste your money tui should not sell this hotel itcis no way a 4 or 5 star not even a 1 we have Been to the dom rep many times and this is the worst hotel ever if you want to go then book either and riu or a dreams never a viva wyndham, image of yogurt in a cup because there were never any bowls you had to do this for cereal at breakfast to. I would never return
