There are some very nice aspects of this Hotel but somewhat lacking in many. We used this Hotel as an overnight stop on route to Calais from the South of France. Good parking, but reception was unattended when we arrived at 17.00. The rooms are adequate but lacking expected amenities. I was amused by the extensive list of charges for various items should you pinch them from the room. When you check in you are handed a TV remote with your key and you must hand the remote back to reception when you leave ! I guess they have had quite a few light fingered guests. The evening meal was reasonable in quality and price and the wine list was average to good. Our meals were both served with an enormous wire basket of chips and 30% of the quantity would still have been too much.Service was ok, but the staff were dressed in casual clothes and a simple uniform would have given a better impression. We had a good nights sleep, but breakfast was a disappointment. There was nothing wrong with what was offered but it was very basic. Would I return ? Maybe, but probably not.

Nice old mill building with water running below the restaurant/reception floor. Food nice, rooms basic but clean. Good private parking and a fairly decent breakfast. The only downside was communication I wish I’d payed more attention in French lessons as it was difficult conversing with staff but that aside an all round decent place to visit.

A tale of two halves. I didn’t get an email confirmation from the hotel and had to phone to check all was well with my booking. A couple of emails also went unanswered, but to be fair I lazily wrote in English and this could be why. The setting is beautiful and tranquil, despite being next to Nigloland (though we could hear the screams!). Our room was fine, nice balcony, the bathroom had some mould but was OK. The hotel also forgot I booked the Romantic Escape package which should have had champagne and flowers in the room. Didn’t happen, though they refunded the flowers and we had the Champagne with dinner. Please check with them if you book this package and want to surprise someone special! The saving grace of this place is the food - wonderful fresh and local ingredients, imaginatively cooked and totally delicious, served in a beautiful restaurant with great service.
