This hotel café restaurant also advertises as 'Boutique Hotel Dokkum', because it has only 12 rooms. The pros: friendly staff that made you feel right at home, lots of charm in the old building, tasty food at dinner and breakfast, free public parking a short walk away (De Helling, but be sure not to park at a blue line = 2 hour parking) and a super central location. The cons: steep stairs to some rooms. No real soundproofing, thin doors, walls and windows: street sounds in the weekend hindered a good night's sleep. Bathroom mirror light did not function. No kettle for tea, although advertised as 'with coffee and tea making facilities'. Bed sheet was not fitted and moved away. Thin topper makes the 'crack' between the two boxsprings a bit uncomfortable.

This is a well located and very friendly hotel in a small and lovely Friesian town. The view from my window took in a cobbled street with cyclists and part of the canal used in the rare but incredible 200km ice-skating race when the northern waterways are frozen. I was in Dokkum with colleagues on a business trip and so I look for three things as my key indicators - quiet at night, hot water and easy-to-use wifi. The Raedhus met the standard and so I would happily return. Hopefully, by the time of my next visit the redecoration of the first floor will have been finished, and perhaps work will have been done on the first floor where three rooms divided by thin walls share a rather cheerless bathroom. Breakfast was good, although for guests staying for three nights it was very repetitive - some yoghurt or fresh fruit on days two and three would have been very welcome. We should have asked. The beer was good, and the Hotel organised a good group dinner for 18 or so guests on the final night

Though the reservation was confirmed, there was no room available upon arrival, and we had to move to a 'sister' hotel with 'comparable' facilities. Essentially, this was no more than a key-in/no reception entry into an apartment block with miniscule bare rooms, and a bathroom that didn't even have soap.

Op de begane grond hangt een rioollucht. Het eten vonden wij op zijn best matig. Na thuiskomst bleek ik bedwantsen opgelopen te hebben. De afhandeling van deze klachten was inadequaat. On the positive side: het espresso-apparaat op de kamer. De elektrische fietsen hadden trouwens een (te) beperkt bereik voor een korte dagtocht. Het terras is trouwens leuk en de bediening aldaar alleraardigst. Dokkum zelf is ook mooi.

Top lokatie, motoren veilig in een schuur. Sfeervolle kamer maar ‘s ochtends om 5 uur gingen onze bovenburen weg, werklui. En door de houten vloer ben je klaar wakker. Er waren weinig gasten, dus waarom. Geen ontbijtbuffet omdat er weinig gasten waren. Dan krijg je dingen die je niet gebruikt, zonde. Omdat er een soort van lekkage was diverse muggen.

In verband met werk een hotel geboekt in Dokkum. Volgens de omschrijving zouden de kamers in 2016 zijn gerenoveerd. Helaas was dat niet de kamer welke ik kreeg. Zeer slechte kamer. Slecht onderhouden, 1 van de 2 kachels kon niet worden aangezet. Licht inval door bierreclame aan de gevel. Zeer slechte badkamer. Slechte bedden. Zeer zeer geluidruchtig. Onprettige geur in kamer en beddengoed. Beperkte tv zenders. Slechte verlichting in kamer.

De kamer was erg klein, maar op bijna iedere muur is er wel een overvloed aan stopcontacten. Bed was oké, het kussen niet. Te plat, te klein, te dun etc. De badkamer had een zeer bijzonder geplaatst toilet. Een beetje schuin voor de douche en een smalle ruimte erachter waar niets past. De vernieuwde grijze gordijnen zijn te smal ingemeten zodat er mega grote kieren ontstaan aan de zijkanten. Ze schijnen ook nog door, dus geen echte verduistering. Ook het lawaai van dronken gasten buiten speelt een rol maar het was dan ook zaterdagavond, wellicht is het door de week een stukje rustiger. Al met al een gedateerd onderkomen, hoewel de website aangeeft dat de kamers vernieuwd zijn, lijkt dit alleen voor de gordijnen, het dekbedovertrek en de achterwand van het bed te zijn. En ondanks dat de eigenaar vraagt en duidelijk aangeeft om niet te roken, gebeurt dat wel in de kamers. De hele gang stinkt ernaar. Voor 1 nachtje is een overnachting te doen. Het personeel is vriendelijk en doet zijn best. Het avondeten is prima.

Gegeten in dit restaurant tijdens ons verblijf in Boutiquehotel Dokkum. Helemaal goed! We hadden een arrangement met een 3-gangen diner, heerlijke dagsoep vooraf ( pompoen soep ) vervolgens een heerlijke wildstoof en als dessert een pepernoten-cheesecake. Al met al heerlijk!
