The le Château de Dissay Poitiers is an epic castle hotel that is set in extensive grounds. The room is quite large and stately, though dated. The views from the window onto the grounds and dry moat is fantastic. The public rooms of the hotel are superb and the large internal courtyard is excellent. The hotel is close to Poitiers making for a great out of town stay, All in all, an interesting chateau hotel well worth a stay.

Newly settled in the region, my wife and I were looking for a romantic and exotic place, without the children, to spend an exceptional moment of love. When we arrived in Dissay, time seemed to stand still once we passed through the gates of the Château de Dissay, transporting us from the 21st century to the 15th century. However, make no mistake, the establishment has preserved the charm of the 15th century while offering rooms with refined decoration, elegantly combining the charm of the old with modernity. Upon our arrival, we were warmly and professionally welcomed by Carole, the Cinderella of the place. Upon waking, after spending a night in a five-star-worthy bed, what a delight it was to discover a breathtaking view of the splendid property. A true haven of peace that reflects the refinement of our hosts. The whole experience shows that beauty is not where you expect it to be, but that this place has the gift of surprising and seducing us simultaneously. The gourmet restaurant, for its part, deserves praise. We thank the chef as well as the warm and professional teams for their attentiveness. The cuisine, of great finesse, offers a menu and dishes worthy of a starred establishment. The dishes highlight homemade products, offering unique aromas and instinctive inspirations evoking flavors from elsewhere. I particularly recommend the desserts, not only for their exquisite taste but also for their presentation, worthy of a masterpiece painting. And if you are as lucky as we were, you will meet the owner of the place, a man who, although he does not have a title, certainly has the demeanor of a prince and a king. Our congratulations to our hosts. Natacha and Laurent HOUGUENADE.

We stayed here as a stop over on our return journey to the UK. The chateau and location is absolutely stunning. Welcome extremely good and staff very helpful. We had a panoramic room which was very spacious and had lots of original features. However, there were no hand towels, only bath towels and very limited lighting. There was a light over the door, two small reading lamps for the bed and a small downlight over the sink in the bathroom. Access to the room was interesting via a spiral staircase! Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, well cooked and well presented wth a good wine selection. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Breakfast was a bit disappointing. It was clear from the room that only two rooms were occupied as only two tables were laid. Service was excellent but the coffee was a bit disappointing, there was no milk for cereal (although we didn't want any), no water in the boiler for cooking boiled eggs and only one type of jam (albeit lots of it!). There was a good selection of breads ham and cheese though along with a choice of fruit juices.

We booked for one night with our dogs, as the Chateau is listed as pet friendly on *******. Before we arrived I reminded them we had dogs, which might affect the room they gave us. When we arrived, the manager very aggressively told us to go away because of our dogs; when we asked for our money back, I was assaulted, beaten and thrown on the ground. I was only spared serious injury by a waitress and a man who pulled the manager off. My wife and I are 70, and were very shaken up by the whole experience.

I had payed the room with ********** and Le château de Dissay asked me to pay again after the night. When they realised the mistake, they promised to pay back, but they never done it (I called more the 20 times). On the Top of it, the service was poor and toilet was not working properly and nothing was done to fix it!

We stayed here for two nights and ate at the chateau on our first. It's not cheap but it's probably less that going to the theatre... and there's just as much fantastic drama. We were blown away by the food and we only wish that the room was as perfect. Sadly, poor soundproofing, dodgy plumbing and basic amenities let the side down.

If you’re looking for a beautifully renovated Chateau and a very charming owner, this is the place .. old charm with modern efficiency .. room was amazing. We opted for the gastronomic dinner in the classy cosy dinning hall .. the food was visually spectacular, perfect choice of ingredients and so tasty .. service was nothing but perfect (Michelin star without a doubt, they just haven’t come by yet) .. Recommend without question if in the area .. only wished we could have stayed longer. Merci beaucoup Mr. Bouvier

This was a truly awful stay for us. We stayed as a family of 4 in 2 separate rooms. When we arrived the Chateau looked very impressive and grand and we were initially very excited. We arrived quite late on in the day at 6pm and were told that dinner was fully booked so we would have to go and find somewhere else to eat. We drove around and realised that there was very little in the immediate area so we drove a little further out however the only place we could find was an American style diner. We ate over fried awful food and decided to go back to the Chateau early and go to bed. We understood that there probably wouldn’t be air conditioning given the age of the Chateau however it had been 39 degrees in the day and the rooms were ridiculously hot so we asked for a fan. We were promptly told ‘No’ no fans available. It really was a very uncomfortable stay. There was no shower door on the shower, no toiletries in the bathroom, just 2 bottles of warm water and plastic cups. The Tv was hopeless and didn’t really work and there was no wardrobes to hang any clothes. Out of the 20 items listed in the description of the Chatea we counted only 7! 30 euros per person to use the swimming pool & spa. I would not recommend this Chateau at all. Just awful
