The room was okay and I slept quite well. The only thing is, if you need a hot shower, you better look for somewhere else.

The National Hotel !!!!!!! It was a National disgrace. Well past its sell by date. The drapes hadn't been cleaned or hoovered for months, there was no hair drier, the heating was on full blast. The room was like a sauna. You had to keep window open with a block of wood. There was a fan in the wardrobe but the plug was broken. No WiFi. I've had better stays at a Premier Inn. Would not recommend this to anyone.

After paying £140 per night which apparently is basic no breakfast was included we paid for breakfast when we got to the dining room only 1 young girl with no experience was there on her own trying to do everything ( meet guests, take orders, serve food, replenish buffet items clear tables, this is a lot of tasks for one maybe more staff should be employed for busy periods, we got no WiFi , we couldn’t turn heating off in the rooms ( in August ), we had no hot water in shower it was tepid, all round this hotel is not worth the money I have paid less for much better

It is going to be midnight soon and we are unable to sleep. There is a rave in the lobby area and no staff here to assist. Our train is in the early AM. There is absolutely no one to help us quiet the noise or move our room. I’ve called the number on the desk. I’ve what’s app message them. I have messaged them on Facebook and pushed the button at the desk. This might be a youth hostel not a hotel? There are people walking around slamming doors. We would leave if we could. The building is old and cool but our room slopes downward. The fact there is no staff here is concerning. Please do not stay here. I’m all for a fun time but we came here to rest. We are only here for one night. Please let guests know there will be a rave below them for hours upon hours.

Pleasantly surprised by my stay. I was a bit worried after reading reviews but hotel was fine. I asked for a quiet room quick I got - room was warm, clean and quiet with lovely toiletries. The communal areas were looking a little tired but great value for money. Would happily return. Can’t comment on food as didn’t have breakfast and bar was unfortunately closed when I returned about 10.30 so didn’t get a drink. There didn’t seem to be a lift which might be an issue for those with mobility problems.

Great stopover for the NC500 route. The staff were so friendly, service at breakfast great. Free parking. Room very clean and fresh. There it’s a bar which looks great. Didn’t have time to go in as was tired after a very early start to the day. 👍

Room in desperate TLC heating comes on at evening radiator and pipes unable to keep hands on while this is on heating pipes keep banging when I informed site they said no heating on,I work in water industry if no heating on and radiator comes on I suggest you check your pump as this could be faulty outside guttering all blocked and overflows carpets badly stained window kept open with block of wood as sash to window broken food on site was excellent

I had a flawless stay at this hotel. Management was exceptional, ensuring a smooth experience. The cleanliness was impeccable, which is so important. The food quality was outstanding and surprisingly affordable. Highly recommended for a perfect getaway.

We were given a room that had obviously been a room which was not usually used! The receptionist was helpful but after carrying heavy cases up 3 lots of stairs and down long corridors our room was an eye opener. The bed was fine, however we had to get a handyman to drill out the fittings of the 2 bathroom liquid soap/shampoo/handwash/conditioner holders as the contents (2 were completely empty) looked as though they had been fermenting for years and had festy foam on top and the bottles had started to decay. The soap holder was hanging from the shower and the shower was mouldy. The carpet was so old and filthy that I hated walking on it in bare feet. The jug and fan were new but I had to go and ask for glasses. There was no tea towel or dish soap to wash/wipe the dishes. the was one huge coffee mug and another small one. Some of the plates in the cupboard were filthy...because no one could wash them up. The edges of the bench were chipped and broken. Came away feeling very dirty. We had paid $220 Australian for a pigsty!! We were not game to eat there.
