We were lucky to be touring around Scotland in a light aircraft but didn’t make advance bookings. How wonderful to be able to get a last minute booking here and to be able to land on their very well maintained private grass runway. We made use of the complimentary electric bikes to explore the local area and had great accommodation, lovely food and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Will definitely go back again. Thank you.

To me, our 3 Days at Newhall Mains was the most pleasant place to stay for our fortnight in Scotland. It was the perfect blend of beautiful "old" stone architecture on the outside with modern amenities (electric, heat water, wi-fi) that work without the medieval gremlins that I have experienced in other places of the same vintage. Our rooms were spacious and clean and tastefully decorated. The dining facilities were intimate and well laid out. The food was excellent and meal service was prompt and friendly. I have saved the best for last - The Staff. The team at Newhall Mains was exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable - from the General Manager to the Busboy. Everyone was efficient at what they did, but more importantly pleasant, helpful, and engaging. Our visit to the Black Isle was greatly enhanced because of it.

Lovely place. Received an upgrade to a cottage as ourselves and another couple were here as a birthday treat for my husband.The restaurant was lovely and evening meal was amazing. Cottage was v impressive, Nicely furnished with large seating area, well stocked kitchen and every home comfort with an array of magazines and books to relax with. Beautiful free standing bath in the bedroom which sadly I didn’t have time to use. Only couple of tips for improvement I would make concerns the bedroom area- little storage place with no wardrobe and an array of hangers beside the door hanging on coat hooks for clothes ( if we had been staying longer, would have had to leave things in our cases) there were no mirrors in the room itself for applying make up etc. I was able to use the mirror in the bathroom but had use extension cable to bring curling tongs into bathroom to the mirror. This aside , our stay was perfect. Chris was lovely and really looked after us well. Would happily stay here again

Absolutely wonderful accommodations. We stayed in Cottage #1 which absolutely had everything one would need. The restaurant and food was superb and the staff, well I can’t say enough superlatives, they all were spetacular. The beds were very comfortable, kitchen and living area ample in size and comfort. The unit even had a combo washer and dryer and large fridge and freezer. I am definitely coming back. The staff were fabulous.

A fantastic trip with my wife . A beautiful setting and a wonderful experience. The building and grounds are stunning. The staff make you feel very special without being to intrusive and as for the chef the food is absolutely sublime . If you are looking for a 5 star trip and exclusivity then newhall mains is a must … 👌

Absolute knockout of a spot. Unbelievably tranquil place to stay with genuine and lovely staff who could not have been more helpful, rooms super clean and luxuriously comfy, relaxed vibe, best homemade bread ever, amazing food, a real haven. 1000 times worth the detour, an inspiring and peaceful place to stay.

Everything about our five night stay at Newhall Mains was simply extraordinary: the cottage was charming, roomy, and beautifully decorated. Euan, the owner and all the staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. The dining experience was incredible as they have a magnificent chef in residence. Rebecca set up our transport to and from Edinburgh with JD and Richard, who are both wonderful, and Richard also took us on a few day excursions; his knowledge of Scotland and the area made those trips so much more fascinating . If you go to Scotland, make sure you head up to Newhall Mains to experience this one-of-a-kind gem!

Simply Superb! Excellent staff, amazing food and great location with so much to do. The Irene Cottage was everything we could have wished for and more. Perfect way to celebrate our Anniversary! Will definitely be back and hopefully for a longer stay next time. Maybe even go flying!!
