Outrigger Maldives Maafushivaru Resort

Exceptional service, cleanliness, and modern facilities are praised. Delicious breakfast but prefers earlier opening time. Guests love the high standards, comfortable beds, and beautiful settings.

We've just returned from Outrigger Maafushivaru and can only say one thing - WOW!! A beautiful resort with stunning beach, fabulous accommodation, superb food and, most of all the most helpful, friendly and attentive staff we have ever had the pleasure to meet. We were most impressed with the quality, presentation, choice and great taste of the food at all the restaurants. We enjoyed having a choice of 3 a la carte restaurants, plus the main buffet restaurant, all serving the freshest, most delicious food. An additional outlet was a lovely coffee bar offering a wide choice of coffees, smoothies, ice cream and delicious pastries. Service at all of them was simply superb. Choice of wine, cocktails and all other drinks was excellent too. All staff went above and beyond, but Su, Vialli, Joy, Victoria and Milo aka Mr Awesome were stand out for us in their approach, friendliness, attentiveness and professionalism. An absolute credit to the resort and a large part of why we enjoyed our holiday so much. We were very much made to feel like part of an extended family. We opted to stay in a beach villa as this is our personal choice over a water villa. It was nicely appointed and incredibly comfortable. Bathroom was excellent and it was very private with a beautiful deck area with direct access to the beach. An amazingly relaxing space. It was also spotlessly clean and we couldn't have been more happy having Saeed look after our room. He did an absolutely excellent job so a huge thank you to him. What we really liked about the resort was that although there were 120 guests on the island when we arrived there was such a great sense of space, mainly due to the beautiful, long, wide beaches and choice of dining venues. This isn't always the case on other islands we have stayed on where beach erosion has been a real problem. It all just felt so incredibly relaxing and private. There is a fully equipped gym with the most fantastic ocean views and a daily programme of activities and excursions. We did a lot of snorkelling and saw so much including reef sharks and on one occasion 2 eagle rays. My husband dived with the Coral Dive Centre and was blown away by all his dives and the professionalism of all the dive staff and boat crew. The manager, Guillaume, was very much in evidence, engaging with guests every night checking that they were enjoying themselves. This, to us, spoke volumes as to how the resort valued their guests. We have been holidaying in the Maldives for 30 years now and have stayed at so many resorts. We rank Outrigger as one of the best in terms of value, service, quality and presentation of food, choice of restaurants and above all, the friendliest, most attentive, wonderful staff we have ever come across. We also noticed that they had many returning guests, which speaks volumes. We never go back to the same island, but are making an exception as we are hoping to return to Outrigger next year. What an amazing place. There are many islands in the Maldives, some with gimmicks, some large and some small but Maafushivaru is superb. The house reef is the best, you’re able to swim with turtles, nurse sharks and a multitude of marine life. The food in the buffet is incredibly varied and delicious. The island also offers other restaurants that are all wonderful. But what really makes your stay so special are the people there, they make you feel so welcome, they know your names from day one and know what you want before you know you want it! Chatting to everyone who works there is always a pleasure. They’re all so positive and have a story to tell you. I looked forward to seeing them as our days went on. With a maximum capacity of guests around 180 the staff outnumber them! Even at capacity you don’t see many other guests. The whole island is immaculate the villas are spotless and so comfortable. The over water villas mean you walk off the deck and you’re swimming with an eagle ray in a moment. There’s a resident marine biologist on the island, not only does she make sure that the island is doing their very best to look after the reef she’s fantastic to get information about the marine life you see while snorkelling or diving. The white sands, the colourful clear sea, the food, the drink, the people… I could go on and on. I want to tell everyone about the island, but I also want to keep it a secret as I know we’ll be back soon.
