Six of us had an amazing meal at Blacks Hotel. The food was simply outstanding. I had the lamb rump; it was cooked to perfection! The others had blue cod, and pasta with prawns. Congratulations to all the staff. It was a most memorable meal. We must continue to support these small country pubs.

Excellent hotel we visited for dinner. Very friendly staff, knowledgeable about the area and excellent service. We caught the free shuttle service from our accommodation in Omakau, food was fantastic, big serving size, wonderful wholesome food. Book though as the hotel is often booked for dinner

These guys are amazing! Such incredible hosts. They provided everything we needed during the rail trail and the food was amazing. Beautiful part of the country with fab hospitality. Would stay here again in a heart beat.

Great food, great wine and wonderful hospitality in the magical historic setting of the hotel. We loved our lunch in the gardens and the chef kindly added blue cod to the lunch menu for us - superb. We were so pleased we made the journey from Alexandra and the one lane bridge is stunning.

My daughter & I stopped off for a cold drink & food on our way back to Queenstown on a very hot day. Friendly staff made us welcome & gave us a shady spot outside, drinks & food arrived quickly and a nice chat made us feel we will definitely return. Lovely hotel in oretty Ophir so a recommended stop off.

Incredibly impressed with the new menu and chef. We all had entree, make, and dessert, and the food was seriously delicious! Would highly recommend the warm chicken salad. We will definitely be returning!

Lovely welcome here and comfortable room. I sat out on the deck and wrote some postcards where I met the friendly cat- her name escapes me! (The dog was cute too but I am a cat girl...) Delicious dinner and nice atmosphere. Friendly genuine hosts. Got up to see the sunrise and had a great yarn with Saskia. Excellent hospitality.

I’m British. I like a pub. I live in NZ. I miss British pubs. This one however made me feel at home. Ambiance. Lovely team. Great food. Good beers. All in this made me very happy. I wish there was something closer to where I live. Will have to come back!

We got a lovely warm welcome in Blacks Hotel in the back of beyond in Otago NZ. Quaint, cosy, open fire, great food and such great hosts. Nothing was too much for the hosts as 13 wet cyclists turned up on their doorstep. They lit an open fire to dry shoes, they found many areas to dry wet gear, had a place for bikes to sit and the rooms were all different with very quaint names which the rooms matched!
