A great place to stay, full of character and very relaxing. Great location , comfortable rooms, very good (but not superb) breakfasts, well stocked honesty bar and the only place that offered us a welcome drink on arrival. And don’t miss a walk in the Garden of Tain just up the road.

A delightful period property, that is charming and comfortable. Tim and Jacqui looked after us from the moment we arrived. The house is spotless, the rooms clean bright and comfortable. Breakfast was very good, cooked to order and lovely coffee. Probably the best place we stayed on our 5 week tour of NZ. Some nice places to eat nearby. Glad the post got the room key back to you!

Beautiful and well renovated historic House, beautiful garden and very friendly couple managing the hotel who shared there local knowledge with us. Excellent cooked breakfast. Defonately one of the top hotels on our NZ-trip. The location in central Akaroa is good. In the hotel our room was spacious.

French Bay House was the ideal place to stay in Akaroa. Jacqui and Tim were great host with Jacqui being especially delightful. Breakfasts were first class and the facilities very good. Located in the middle of one half of Akaroa, it was ideally placed for the harbour trips and several restaurants. Akaroa was the perfect place to spend our first 4 nights in NZ. With fabulous views, plenty to see, great walks and lots of good eateries, it’ll be hard to beat.

What a wonderful guest house. Ranks up there amongst one of the best we have stayed at. Jacqui and Tim are fantastic hosts and make you feel so welcome and at home. The house is full of history and character yet very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Our room (Raupo) was lovely and very quiet. The cooked breakfast was perfect and it was lovely to chat with the hosts and other guests to get ideas of what to do and where to eat (the Chefs Choice 5 course menu at Ma Maison was an absolute winner). All in all a top guest house in an area of outstanding beauty. Definitely highly recommended.

This was a real gem whilst touring the South Island. Jacqui and Tim were such excellent hosts with lots of good recommendations. Home was spotless, charming and offered everything we needed. Cooked breakfast was one of the best. Would definitely recommend this place. Many thanks Jacqui and Tim.

I can't praise this enough. A beautiful house with the most lovely hosts who make you feel so at home. The food is delicious and the environment is so relaxing. One of the best holidays I've had. Je ne peux pas en faire assez d'éloges. Une belle maison avec les hôtes les plus charmants qui vous font sentir comme chez vous. La nourriture est délicieuse et l'environnement est tellement relaxant. Une des meilleures vacances que j'ai eues.

This was the perfect place to start our five and a half week tour of New Zealand. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, the property so pretty and beautifully decorated and the breakfasts were delicious. We really didn't want to move on.
