Stayed 1 night with my wife, room was clean and comfortable, the view was beautiful, food and staff was perfect. Plenty of thing to do we did the walks next time mountain biking Would I go back and recommend to friends and family HELL yes I loved staying there and will be going back soon.

We decided to break our train journey from Wellington to Aukland and took a chance on this Chateau. We were so glad that we did. We stayed for two nights, in "The House", not a hotel room. This is a three-bedroom house with a good kitchen and bathroom, comfortable lounge room and nice outdoor terrace. It also has a wood fired heater, for which they provide plenty of wood. Then there's the dining room! We weren't disappointed there either. We ate there both nights and had delicious food. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, including taking us into town to the supermarket. Otherwise, it was a looong walk. A special shout out to Scarlett who was a great help following the unexpected cancellation of our next accommodation in Aukland.

Very charming hotel! Wish we had more time to stay. The property feels very much like a ski lodge and I'm sure is gorgeous in the winter. Just as nice and more quiet in the summer!
We ate at the more casual restaurant - great food and enjoyed having drinks on the rooftop patio. We didn't have a chance to swim in the heated pool but it looked lovely. We loved learning that some of the Lord of the Rings cast stayed here when they were filming! 10/10 recommend

The building is very dated. The bathroom was mouldy. The shower fluctuated between boiling and freezing. The food is overpriced. It’s unlikely that I’ll be back to stay. Would have been good in the 80s

The breakfast was very good, the pool was fantastic and the Aperol Spritz was even better. Love the spaciousness of the rooms. We would highly recommend!!!!

Amazing hotel. Very close to ski hills and volcano. Food and beer were great. Very comfy rooms. easy parking. The only thing is ask for a room far from the automatic door as the knock on the wall when they open and it might disturb you at night.

Most of the Hotel was closed off, with doors closed, lights and heating off. Wanted to use the pool, but that was closed. Restaurant was closed. Had to have a Bar Meal in the public bar area with locals in their workwear. Had a beer, tried to have the Calamari - but that was heavily greasy and I felt a little sick. Went back up to our rooms early to get warm. Checked out and left early next morning, didn't even bother to ask for breakfast - went to a local cafe.
