We stayed in a garden cottage here and when I entered, I just thought how utterly charming it was - pretty and full of character. It was spotlessly clean and simply, but tastefully decorated. The bathroom was not super modern, but in keeping with the look of the room and had a good shower and toiletries. We had a little outside balcony, overlooking a pretty path and garden. This was so lovely to have - we ate there one evening and had a drink there the next. It was well equipped for self catering, which we wanted - we were eating out so much over 3 1/2 weeks, that it was nice to do our own, simple thing for a change. That said, we ate in the Church Bistro on Valentine's night and that was very good. The staff member who checked us in was very helpful and we thought providing towels and a spade for Hot Water Beach was a nice touch. If we return to NZ, we would definitely stay here again. Oh and Hahei is just beautiful too!
