Stayed a week with the family in a garden Bure which was beautiful. Didn’t really spend much time in it to be honest except to sleep and shower! Loved the activities and excursions every day, especially the rainforest and waterfall tour which was a real adventure that also allowed us to see some of the countryside on the 45 min bus journey. Really enjoyed the yoga with Anna and Buna both at the seafront and on the private island. We appreciated that the meal portions were not very large especially the starters and desserts hence did not waste food - judged to perfection. Celebrated my 60th here with dinner at the end of the pier - what a memorable occasion, and super fortunate with a break in the weather providing us with beautiful sunset cloud formations. Had some great dives with L’Aventure plus the snorkelling off the beach was so abundant with fish. My personal favourite was singing and drinking kava with Willy and the Bula Boys every evening, such fun. Too many staff to mention by name because each and every one was genuinely warm-hearted and friendly. Kudos to the people of Fiji. We will return.

Our family of three had a fantastic time at the resort. The staff was incredible with excellent service and made us feel like family. They went above and beyond in every department - restaurant and bar, activities, and dive center. They were magnificent with our adult handicapped daughter and engaged her in all types of activities while we were on dive trips. The evening entertainment from village groups was especially entertaining and provided a look at the local culture. The dive sites are fantastic and the dive shop and crew are excellent. Great food and beautiful sunsets. Overall an outstanding vacation and highly recommended.

I was incredibly disappointed at the experience overall. After reading all the reviews about this place I had high expectations. Our experience was two star at best. The food quality wasn’t much better than Denny’s. The food was not good. The service was even worse. It would often take over an hour to get our food and when you have two children under three that can be a big problem. Created a lot of unnecessary stress. Often we would have to go get our own highchair because the staff did not care to consider to get it for us. There was absolutely zero sense of urgency from the staff in the restaurant. There is no beach on the resort that is one that you can sit on and relax. Just have a lot of coral, are very rocky, and are not conducive to children building Sandcastles etc. I wish I had done more research before staying here for as long as I did. Another note… When I booked a place no one bothered to tell us it was monsoon season. The highlights were the nannies … particularly Ako was awesome. The massage was 5 star (Viri). They did try to resolve my concerns about the restaurant -I would typically get better for a few days after I complained and then go back to the same slow/ thoughtless service. at what point of you stop wanting to complain and just give up and enjoy your vacation. I would definitely not recommend this place and I will not go back.

We stayed at Jean-Michel Cousteau in 2022 and were so impressed that we brought more family members this time. It didn't live up the the expectations. The good: -The activities crew remain superb-they made special accommodations for those in our group who fell behind or needed extra help. They make up for the shortfalls in other sections. -Having marine biologists on hand and the night snorkel also made the experience memorable. -The spa is so relaxing. Worth it!! -The property remains beautifully maintained and is a leader in ecotourism. -Management really tries to rectify any issues and remembered us from the last visit, making us feel like family. The less good: - October/November is hot. Really hot. There is no air conditioning and the open windows and shades only do so much. Everyone gets cranky without a way to be cooled. August was more ideal - Food and food service was subpar. Food took forever to arrive. Orders were often incorrect. No drink refills come easily unless you're paying extra for alcoholic beverages. Not all nonalcoholic beverages were free, unlike last time. While the cost is still low, it's annoying to be told one thing from the website and then get charged something else. There's a good variety of food but nothing I loved as much as last time. The food was overall lackluster. Apparently, it was a new menu and it was taking time for the staff to catch on. That doesn't explain getting often ignored. I truly hope the resort corrects some of these issues.

Travelled mid-January and just returned from JMC. Everyone in our group had an amazing time. And the staff went out of their way to ensure we were made to feel like family. Ate way too much great food, with plenty of selections available for all covering a range of dietary requirements within our group - and a number of special requests for non-menu items were mostly fulfilled by the kitchen. We did not experience any delays with food or service - and were perhaps quite fortunate that the resort was relatively quiet during our stay having just ending their "bumper" Christmas rush period. High staff:guest ratio, which was made even higher through lower occupancy levels during our stay. Whilst on the downside this meant meeting and interacting with fewer other guests, the service and attention received from the JMC team was impeccable. No shortage of activities to participate in as other reviewers have mentioned. Immersion in Fijian culture certainly a highlight - village visits, kava ceremonies, singing and dancing, basket weaving, competitive volleyball and soccer, etc. Plenty of swimming, snorkelling, (we also dived extensively with JMC diving based in the resort), kayaking, waterfall visit - all great experiences. A minor maintenance issue we raised was addressed within the hour, and the bure itself was well cared for and housekeeping did an amazing job twice daily. We had no need of a nanny, however observed other families interacting with their assigned carer and can see why those with infants and young children also love this resort. No, this isn't the place to go for large white sandy beaches, or TV's in rooms - but that wasn't why we chose JMC. Other than the lack of air-conditioning in bures (which would be nice at times) and some persistent mosquitos (plenty of repellant provided) JMC met and exceeded our expectations and we were very sad to leave. Vinaka vakalevu to all!

We loved JMC from start to finish. Beautiful resort and surrounds, delicious food, top quality activities, opportunities to dive and snorkel, including right off the jetty in front of the resort. It’s like swimming through an aquarium, the water is teeming with the most amazing array of sea life. The marine biologists are on hand and happy to answer questions. Sailing and kayaking galore. The activities crew are so helpful and patient, you’re guaranteed to have a blast even if you aren’t confident with water sports. The “Bula Club” is an amazing catered experience for the children, they loved their buddies and nanny and we were so sad to say goodbye. Special thanks to Lotte and Jayline, who were just the most wonderful beautiful carers and guides for our kids, and gave them such an amazing experience. The parents were able to have a holiday, and enjoy some cocktails, and the kids were happy too. Big big thank you to JMC for the best holiday we have ever had.

Jean-Michel Cousteau is nothing short of sensational. Words nor pictures can truly express how idyllic this resort is. As you reach the resort you are serenaded by the staff and given welcome drinks upon arrival. The resort is beautiful, from its crystal waters and pure beaches to romantic daybeds and restaurants. If you are anyone who craves relaxation, fun, excitement, family time, romantic moments and insane food then there is no place more suitable than Jean-Michel Cousteau. As a family of 4 that has been coming since 2003, our 12th time was as exceptional as ever. The resort is fantastic at providing entertainment for children from ages of 2-17 such as physical activities, sports and enriching experiences. For couples, the resort is a perfect destination with its' spa treatments, romantic island, beauty and general activities It is not an exaggeration to say that the staff are beyond doubt the best north or south of the equator. From the nannies to the restaurant to the reception to the dive shop and even to the gardeners each individual is lovely and unbelievably accommodating. The staff goes out of their way for each guest, for example, the restaurant went off the menu for us after we asked if there was any chance they could make tempura prawns even though it was completely out of the blue with no warning at all they simply said they would love to and made it specially. They make Jean-Michel Cousteau more incredible than any other resort because it ceases to be more than just an amazing resort, it becomes like a second home. A real highlight of Jean-Michel Cousteau resort is the dive opportunities they give you, both my children and I became certified divers at Jean-Michel Cousteau. The resort takes you to the most dive sites filled with gorgeous corals and spectacular sea life ( fish, turtles, sharks, manta rays, lobsters) As a person who rarely writes reviews but feels a duty to inform people that i finally located paradise, I am unsure of how to conclude this review so i will leave with one piece of advice. Go there. xx The Hutleys ( Sheila + Noel)

Our family has visited this resort before for an exceptional experience. It was not at first my preference to write this review but we felt that because so many details went unresolved, it is needed. On a positive note, we saw many of the same staff as on our last stay, and you do feel at home because of this. The Fijian ladies who seemed to be in charge were also lovely but fumbled through running service outlets. We were told that there was a Manager but we never saw him, even after asking to chat. We thought that so strange. The childcare at this hotel is exceptional and this is part the reason for our return, but this time the facility is shabby, towels frayed and scares, and the pools were often unclean. Food and drink service of any kind in this hotel was very rarely OK but mostly very bad. Waiting and wrong orders seemed to be standard. This was so bad that it became a joke and we started to ensure that we were usually first to order. We were very surprised indeed after such glowing reports previoiusly on this site. Staff appeared confused and panicked, and there didn't seem to be a system in place for anything. We would order drinks find them served differently every time. The same was true for many details. The quality of the food has dropped and the menu uninteresting and repetitive. On the third or fourth night my wife was served raw chicken and was vomiting all the next day. Nothing was done about this and after asking to see the Manager again, he never came. Finally we went to book the private island, but we found that the price for this has gone up significantly, as had other activities, which left us feeling a little sour, and we did not participate. Apologies go to lovely staff for this review.

Hi We stayed at JMC in October for ten days and loved every minute, takes a bit more effort to get there than the other main land resorts but was well worth it. From the moment you check in you are treated like one of the family! Our two boys Hudson and Fletcher loved their time with Asa and sete, lots of different activities every day. Sailing/ snorkelling/ basketball/ tennis/ pool……..from 8.45am to after dinner they wanted nothing to do with their boring parents ☹️ All the staff were amazing, Gabbi would do the morning walks and share his stories with a smile. Liz also loved yoga with Ana Food was quality, no repeats on the lunch or dinner menu during our stay which was good and you never go hungry as the portions are big. Kids menu was also great Far from cheap but if you need a break, time to sit back and truly relax well this is the place for you Jarrod and Liz
