Barefoot Manta was amazing! We spent 5 nights and had the best time. The staff were incredible, especially the resident marine biologist Rob who was a mine of information and enthusiasm. There are 3 different beaches to snorkel from and the snorkelling was the best we have ever seen, it is a protected marine reserve and we participated in coral planting which was great. The Manta Ray trips happened on 3 of our 5 days, it is a bit of an uncontrolled bun fight with various resorts sending their boats to see the mantas but the Barefoot Manta crew were educated and respectful. The resort is beautiful and has a lovely vibe, the staff were so friendly and helpful. We stayed in a double Bure on the sunset side, it was a permanent tent and it was all that we could have wished for, right on the beach. The meal plan is really expensive by our standards, I would have preferred an al a carte option as I have food restrictions and I found that eating salad and rice for almost every meal was boring and repetitive. The staff did try though, however $40 Fijian for salad and rice was a bit on the nose. Bring snacks! It would have been good if they could have made the tea/coffee available all day and maybe had something available for afternoon tea as it is 6 hrs between lunch and dinner. We do recommend this place.

110% hospitality and more ….

Cool dorm (tent on the beach) with comfy bed and pillow, cleaned and tidied and beds made by staff daily Lovely friendly staff throughout Communal showers and toilets not as clean as other resorts, but still fine Water pressure not that strong, takes a while to wash long hair after being in the sea for example No hot water (but this isn’t an issue!) Buffet evenings (albeit lovely) not 3 course a le carte as advertised Really good selection/ food options and caters to dietary requirements Lunch and dinner were provided by staff in a queue service, wafting banana leaves over the food to keep flies away, but they didn’t do this at breakfast, it was help yourself, and flies were everywhere- quite off putting Great egg station with massive omelettes available Tea/coffee station available all day Happy hour was at sunset so that was nice 3 gorgeous beaches to choose from! I wish there’d have been more sun loungers on each beach and more places to relax in the shade Best coral I have ever seen in my life!!! So many different species of fish to see too Manta excursion!! Magical!!!!

My husband and I were at Barefoot Manta for 4 nights and loved every minute of it! The resort is so well laid out with the 3 different beaches and central dining area and then the bures all around the edges right near the beaches. The entire resort was so clean and welcoming. The surrounding reefs (accessible right from the beaches) provided some of the most beautiful and varied snorkeling we've ever done. We could tell the reefs were well taken care of there and really enjoyed learning more from the Marine Science Center on site. There's an abundance of activities available each day for all ages if you'd like to do more than snorkeling and lying on the beach. We enjoyed things like Fijian language classes, fan making, a medicine walk, coconut demonstration, marine talks, low tide explorations, a traditional lovo dinner with entertainment and kava ceremony, etc. The staff were all super helpful and friendly, especially Barry who led many of the activities. Our beachfront bure was clean and beautiful and we loved the private outdoor shower! We highly recommend Barefoot Manta and hope to visit again!

Beautiful location and unique beach front accom. Great snorkelling. However food was terrible and really let down the stay. Even breakfast ******. Limited choice and poorly executed. As an adult I resorted to the kids meal. The other area for improvement was activities. In the hot afternoons an out of sun activity would be good. We stayed 3 but final day day was boring. Hope this was due to low season. Fishy talk was great although tanks in marine centre were empty.

What a fabulous 3 days we’ve just had at Barefoot Manta - from the moment we arrived we said we wish we were staying longer! The staff are so genuine, friendly and helpful. There are lots of them at they greet you with genuine warmth. We spontaneously decided to do our Open Water Diver qualification while at barefoot & are so glad we did. The marine life is unbelievable (even when just snorkelling off the beach) and the diving staff are second to none (thankyou Bete and Rafa). As we were diving we unfortunately didn’t get to experience the different activities on offer but these included basket making, coconut workshops, marine life talks and Fiji lessons. If we were to return I would love to do these next time! Something additional after dinner would have been fab! The food is good - my only point would be about keeping it hotter, although I appreciate this is difficult when catering for many guests. For dinner you are given a set menu where you pick one main. Although I prefer choice when paying all inclusive (eg a buffet style) we never struggled to find something and the food was good quality - beautifully presented! I was worried about the room not having air conditioning after my first few days in (hot and humid!) Fiji. However I was pleasantly surprised at how cool the sea-breezed beachfront bure was. It felt private and clean and the shared toilet/shower facilities were close by and in great order. A special thanks goes out to Mirko, the general manager, who goes above and beyond for Barefoot Manta. During our 3 days we saw him on front desk, serving at the bar, helping plate up food at dinner time and he was one of our dive instructors. He works tirelessly and his efforts should be recognised! Thank you everyone at Barefoot Manta, we will recommend you to all our friends!
