As soon as you arrive at Atea Lodge you’re wowed by the views out to the coast. Kelvin and Lynn are warm, helpful and provide great info on the local area. They are perfect hosts. The property has a huge wraparound verandah where you can choose to have the delicious, made to order breakfast. Everything works absolutely perfectly and there’s considerable attention to detail ( Kelvin’s background was in engineering). They seem to have thought of everything from a guest perspective. The quirky outdoor bath is a bonus. Great to relax and watch the stars. Thank you for giving us such a great beginning to our NZ holiday 😊

This place is worth spending time in. The location is stunning, perched up on a hill with a huge veranda with 360 degree views. Each room has a separate area on the veranda to hang out with comfortable furniture and a table if you want to have breakfast outside. The rooms have been recently renovated and are very spacious, comfortable, modern, with a large bathroom . Little perks like free Netflix and Prime TV, snacks, drinks were appreciated. The hosts are lovely and breakfast was terrific. Lots of choice for breakfast. The hosts gave us ideas for places to eat and things to do. Can’t say enough positive things about our stay here.

My wife and I were fortunate enough to stay at the Atea Lodge this past week on the Coromandel Peninsula (Coromandel Town). We stayed in the Kauri suite, but all three suites were beautiful. The location, overlooking the peninsula, out to the water, was spectacular. The picture posted on their site is what you get on a clear day - along with a wonderful star-filled sky! The room was well equipped; comfortable bed, Smart TV, and nice sitting area and bathroom accommodation. The breakfast was "gourmet level" delicious and plentiful! The grounds were beautiful, maintained by Kelvin - and Kelvin and Lynn were great hosts. We really enjoyed getting to meet them and engage with them in extended conversation - truly nice people! The Atea Lodge is what I equate with being in "paradise." It also benefits from being close to Coromandel Town with good dining options and within driving distance of spectacular nature/coastal walks. We can't say enough good things about the Atea Lodge. Don't miss it while on the North Island!

Very lovely place to stay. Excellent , spacious room , very well furnished and designed. Excellent bathroom and extremely comfortable bed. Terrific views. Gourmet breakfast. Lovely hosts. We very much enjoyed the Driving Creek train trip nearby. Most interesting history and a wonderful trip, great views and a very knowledgeable driver who has been involved in the project initiated by Barry Brickell in 1973.

Just spent two fabulous days at Atea. Big thankyou to Lyn and Kelvin for sharing their magnificent accomodation overlooking Coromandel. Thanks for the conversation and advice on what to see and where go dine in town. The breakfasts were exceptional accompanied by the view from the deck.

We have spent 4 nights in one of the three rooms. These are surrounded by a covered deck with great views in all directions. Room is quality with very comfortable bed. Lynn & Kelvin provide superb service and delicious breakfasts. A path through the garden leads to an outside bath and shower and onwards to a recreation room with a full size bollard table and other games. About 5 mins drive from Coromandel Town where there are good restaurants and a variety of shops. Near by is the Driving Creek railway. This is private venture that takes small groups up the hill to a lookout. Good fun. This is special place for a tranquil break.

We had a wonderful four night stay at Atea Lodge just after Christmas. The lodge is beautiful with amazing panoramic views of the sea and hills all around Coromandel town. Rooms were five star quality and you could enjoy a lovely day just chilling at the property. Great location just up from Driving Creek Railway. Lynn and Kelvin were fantastic hosts, even picking us up from town after arriving by ferry from Auckland. Service and breakfast were excellent. Convenient packed lunches and evening snacks were available, plus beer or wine - great after arriving back after a long walk! We took a couple of day tours and it served as an excellent base for exploring the peninsula.

We were on a 25th anniversary NI trip, and I wanted to stay someplace special on the actual day. Nailed it! Lynn & Kelvin have created a perfect hideaway - close to town, but hidden, private and quiet. They have three rooms and all have amazing views. We were the only ones there for the two nights, and they really spoiled us. The first night we relaxed and took in the views and our anniversary day we spent tramping, coming back exhausted. They offered to put a platter together for us, which we happily accepted :) and though I wanted to surprise my husband with a special cake, they actually made TWO! - amazing and kind. We took advantage of the very cool bathtub tucked away in the bush on their property - bubble bath, robes and birds singing in the trees. The room itself is good sized and well - appointed. The bed was very comfortable, and it was nice to have a fridge and decent glasses. Bathroom was roomy with great water pressure in the shower (perfect for relaxing the muscles!). Hot breakfast is included and though I bowed out, my husband went all in! Plenty to eat and it looked great. I can vouch that the coffee (made your way:) was spot on. Kelvin & Lynn left no detail untouched. They were busy working around the property, but always had time to chat and always with a smile. Perfect place. Would love to return some time.
