This is an awesome place to go for a family with young kids, or for a school trip! They cater to all needs from family rooms, to cabins, disability friendly rooms, to large school group facilities. Friendly staff and a lovy location, highly recommend.

We rented a self contained unit, Ngahere, attached to the Ability Lodge. It was well set up with a comfy bed and large living space. The lodge next door was occupied for 2 nights by a group consisting mainly of teenagers. They were very respectful and quiet by ten o’clock. The only disturbance from next door was the loud slamming of the bathroom doors - possibly an auto close - when there were multiple visits in the night. The camp is well maintained and the staff very friendly and helpful. It was a safe place for our young granddaughters to bike and they enjoyed time with us in our spacious unit. We sighted the resident falcon several times which was exciting.

Basic facilities for a family of 6. We loved the playground and location. Would have loved to see more than 2 plugs in the very large kitchen. There were about 20 people attempting to juggle a microwave, jugs etc with only 2 plugs. A challenge! The giant huhu grubs are awesome - but not everyone feels that way. Some wire/mesh on windows would have allowed windows to be open at night without being scared/eaten alive by bugs. Thanks for keeping the lights on at night for safety getting to bathrooms :-)

Stayed for two nights in a twin forestry hut. Excellent value for money. Very comfortable beds, all areas were clean, there were well equipped kitchens, friendly staff and beautiful location. The bathrooms were adequate.

We rented the cheapest cabin with 2 beds. They were tiny but clean. We had to hire bedding at an extra cost of $8NZ If you are after cheap accommodation for one or two nights it is good. The communal kitchen is fully equipped and the amenities are clean.

We thoroughly enjoyed our family stay here. The staff was welcoming, and the room we booked, a quadruple and twin hutt, was tidy, including the window sill, walls, and mattresses. However, I wouldn't recommend the twin hutt during winter; it lacks insulation, and the panel heater isn't sufficient for colder temperatures. Throughout our stay, there were nightly water cuts, rendering the toilets unusable. The communal spaces were not cleaned daily; the kitchen floor remained dirty, and hand towels were unchanged and damp. Additionally, the cooking area felt inadequate, especially during peak times, leading to long queues for cooking facilities. The other things we liked about this place was clear written instructions were up all around the facility.

Stayed in a quaint little 2 bed cabin. Comfy and clean. The kitchen and ablution blocks are clean and tidy and the kitchen is really well stocked. It has a wonderful atmosphere and all the visitors were friendly and I enjoyed chatting to foreigners in the kitchen. I was really impressed with the facilities. My 18 yr old son loved the place. Its so close to town and the forest, yet far enough away for peace and quiet. I'd rather stay here than at a motel. Just wonderful

what a beautiful place to stay while enjoying hot springs downtown! we are camping our way through NZ but here we slept in a real bed and refreshed ourselves completely. The beds are very comfy, the kitchen is fully equipped and one can cook anything there. It is also a very nice place to spend the evening. Bathrooms are clean and warm. The camp is quiet, surrounded by forest and many walking paths, as well as a waterfall. The only thing is that wifi is not free but must be purchased. Perhaps that could be changed.

Embarked on an unforgettable adventure with a group of spirited 9 and 10-year-olds, immersing ourselves in the great outdoors and embracing the thrill of tent living. Nestled in an awe-inspiring location, we revelled in the beauty of nature, accompanied by a team of exceptionally accommodating and friendly staff.
