Getaways at Destin Holiday Beach Resort

The proximity to the beach is great. The units are good, sufficient for the stay. The staff was very nice. Many things were unavailable due to it not being March yet, that was a drag. The view where we were was fabulous, the mattresses were comfortable. The tv in the living room did not work. We did not complain we weren’t using it. I think anyone who books here would be pleased. There was loud construction all day. But that was ok. They stuck to reasonable hours. Dishwasher needs replacing. But it was ok.

Location and pool excellent BUT room was extremely unpleasant. Mildew smell made it difficult to even be in the room. Bedding old and stained. Box mattress old and filthy. Bathtub didn’t drain. I wouldn’t stay again unless rooms were updated and the mildew issue was addressed .

This resort is one that caters to vacationing families and middle aged to older folks. In the month of March, it is a very big deal knowing that there is a great resort is better suited for people like myself. Therefore, that means that people like myself can rest easier knowing that we can stay at the resort and enjoy our vacations without having to deal with college spring breakers. I do want to note that when reading previous reviews, I saw some talk about the age of the resort. Me personally, I knew that this is one of the older resorts in the area but they have done a very good job maintaining it and have clearly remodeled it over the years. Yes much of the furniture is not brand new but it has been maintained very well over the years which to me is more important than how new the furniture is. Therefore, the resort has ensured that it is still a great place to stay at regardless of how long it has been since it opened. Overall, it would be nice if the resort could do something in a future remodel to ensure that units are better insulated from the noise from heavy winds. I also wish it would be possible for them to increase the size of the shower in the main bathroom in the units but due to the nature of the unit, it is likely not possible. That being said, neither of those things are deal breakers and if I decide to go back to Destin at some point, this resort would be up towards the top of my list in terms of places where I would want to stay at.
