Sundestin Beach Resort

Worse than a Motel 6!!! Our room had so much damage inside. The mattress sloped off and you rolled out! The room smelled like **** upon arrival. I had to buy our own Toilet paper and when asked the staff they handed us a half used roll! Staff could have cared less about our experience! I could go on, worst accommodations.

The best vacation ever! Absolutely beautiful views of clear blue water with dolphins & white beaches. Balcony with chairs & table for breakfast. It was extremely clean & the family own condo beautifully decorated. We stayed in 1210. It had a full kitchen & there’s a food & bar, store & workout room we frequented. We were also close to the bridge where we rented a floating pontoon tiki bar & it went to a place where the water is waist deep. The kids liked the free floating playground & we played frisbee in the water. We walked on the beach to the Back Porch Restaurant with open air seating inside & great views from our room. The prices were reasonable & fish is delicious. Close to several other great eating establishments on the beach as well. We want to live there now!

This is a nice hotel. There is construction going on and was noisy but we were told about that up front. It didn’t interfere with us having a good vacation. The front desk was very nice and helpful. Our room was clean. There was a store on premises and an eating place. We would stay here again.

We loved this place last year. It will likely be good again in a few years to come. Right now the construction is unbearably loud. All outside amenities are closed and you need to walk under cover to get to beach. Scaffolding and ropes are in front of all rooms and 2 days ago our porch door was barricaded closed as well. It is just not safe to be there! We have been relocated by our vacation group. Bless them.

The bed in 1416 is the worst bed I’ve ever slept on. It’s a king. The two sides are so worn out, you literally touch the box spring through it. There are permanent indentations from having been used likely since the 90s. It’s a cheap 8” spring mattress which makes it worse. The middle has a huge hard hump so you can’t even roll over. The furnishings in the entire room were incredibly dusty, especially the wicker headboard. We covered it with the spare sheet so we could sleep without rolling and breathing in dust. Only one ceiling fan worked and it was the dining room one. Other than that, the room is cute and decorated very beachy-Florida. The bathrooms and kitchen are clean and well-equipped. The floors are all tile and clean. We didn’t see any critters or roaches which is always a plus. Just change the entire bed, mattress and headboard, and this would’ve been a really nice stay. The staff were all super friendly but I didn't bring my concerns to their attention until checkout. I'm not sure they would have been able to do anything about it anyway.

When we arrived there was construction going on, the resort was not at all as advertised. The condo we stayed in was 1214 it was not clean and smelled of smoke. I cleaned the unit myself and reported the issues but did not want the cleaning company to clean because if they could not do better than this I would rather do it myself. There is no washer and dryer in the unit. A big issue was the bathtub would not drain. It was so full of hair that it was disgusting. The pool and outdoor area was nasty. The elevator was so hot you could not breathe. If you are looking for a place to stay in Destin do not stay here. I would hive the place a 1 star.
