FFun4kidsIn this cold winter, we originally planned to drive to Shanxi to celebrate Christmas, but we were blocked by a sudden cold wave. On the spur of the moment, we decided to look for a cozy B&B around Beijing, so we chose the Sansan B&B Hotel and had a very satisfying vacation.
This B&B hotel is located in the valley on the west side of the Mutianyu Great Wall. The original site was once a village tile factory in the local valley. In addition to producing black tiles for residential buildings, glazed tiles and roof tiles are also produced here. The entire building is mainly made of red bricks, and every corner and path is decorated with rich Chinese elements such as colored glaze, roof beasts, and ceramics.
Sansan’s sense of space makes people linger. The tall doors and windows show a multi-layered view through the windows. The Yanshan Mountain and the Great Wall outside the window extend back layer by layer, forming a highly layered architectural structure. The design of the room is full of detail, and the color and lighting are very restrained. The furniture is solid wood color, the walls are made of Morandi gray, and the exterior walls are made of gradient Morandi tones, which perfectly blend with the surrounding natural scenery. There is no main light in the room, only bedside lamps and floor lamps, emitting warm yellow light, immersing people in a quiet and comfortable atmosphere. Ethereal drums and tutorials are placed in each room. Although we are not good at playing, the children are very happy. What is particularly impressive is the oversized wash space, simple wash stand and mirror, and large bathtub, making people feel the ultimate comfort in it.
As night fell and the bright moon hung high, we walked among the Great Wall, ridges and eaves, feeling the peaceful and wonderful moment. After nightfall, the white snow outside the window reflects the moonlight, integrating the indoor and outdoor areas, allowing the body and mind to connect, and fall asleep quietly and slowly.
Sansan Hotel, with its small and intimate design, directly affects our vacation experience. Compared with large, useless and indifferent five-star hotels, Sansan's design has a more warm feeling.
The service at the hotel is extremely warm. For the first time, we saw a waiter who called himself a butler. Starting from the parking lot, the enthusiastic uncle took the initiative to find the most convenient parking space for us. While parking the car, the housekeeper came out, accurately called the person who made the reservation by name, and took the initiative to help carry the luggage. Miaomiao at the front desk introduced the facilities and services in the room in detail, and gave welcome fruits, which was very considerate. When I encounter a problem, I just make a phone call and the housekeeper comes to the room to solve the problem within a minute. He also brings a bottle of mineral water, as if he is visiting with a small gift. When the children were soaking in hot springs outdoors, the staff was worried that the towels would get cold, so they put them on the radiator to keep them warm. The children wanted to take the paintbrushes from the activity center back to the room and continue painting, and the aunt in the activity center also fully supported it. These small details are full of warmth and care.
Food is a vital part of the holiday experience. We chose Beiyuao Shabu Shabu, which belongs to the same group as Sansan Hotel, as our dinner venue. It is only 300 meters away from the hotel and in Beigou Village. This place serves one of the best shabu-shabu dishes I've had in Beijing. The taste is pure and the fermented bean curd in the sesame sauce has just the right flavor. What's more important is that the beef and mutton are very fresh. The meat slices are cut extremely thin and can be eaten in a few seconds. The tender taste makes the children want to stop. The vegetables are also fresh. The bean sprouts, cabbage, and chrysanthemum are crisp, tender and delicious when you bite into them. This kind of gourmet experience is indeed rare. The sesame cakes are small and exquisite, cut in half, and have a crispy but not greasy texture. They are one of the most delicious sesame cakes in Beijing. With the snow outside the window and the hot pot sizzling inside, the feeling of a winter vacation arises spontaneously.
Sansan Hotel and Wachang Hotel complement each other, and breakfast is served at Wachang Western Restaurant. Particularly recommended is the Roujiamo. The buns are crispy, the braised pork is fragrant and glutinous, and paired with chopped green peppers, the mouthful is filled with deliciousness in one bite. The afternoon tea at Brickyard is equally amazing. The cheese in the red velvet cake is delicate and smooth, making it relaxing and enjoyable to taste. The small fruit plate is also full of details. The sweet-scented osmanthus sprinkled on the cantaloupe is like the setting sun on the Jinshan Mountain. It contrasts with the white snow under the Yanshan Great Wall outside the window, which is intoxicating.
In the village where the hotel is located, we were also lucky enough to visit the Wa Art Museum. The stray cats in the village added a lot of fun to our vacation. The children bought ham sausages to feed the kittens and had a great time.
Overall, this B&B hotel experience in Beijing is our family’s favorite so far. Whether it's the unique design, considerate service, or delicious food, we all had an unforgettable and enjoyable vacation.
