The lake view room with balcony is nice, there are plenty of restaurants around and the hotel is clean. It's a parking lot that requires 8 minutes to park, but the hotel provides a shuttle bus, which is also ok.

A really splendid hotel, staff splendid, room splendid , Location amazing , breakfast superb , even a Vegan and a Gluten free counter , I highly recommend the hotel Ferry to everywhere 5 mis away, buses around Italy 5 mins away . And a free shuttle from the hotel . We loved our stay , thank you all

Decent hotel, probably past it's heyday but did the job for us. The room was a little dated but was clean and tidy. The breakfast was typical buffet fare and had a decent choices. Location wise it was great, situated in the heart of the town with plenty of restaurants close by. Being so close to the ferry was also really handy. It's a 10 - 15 minute walk to the rail station which was great.

Beautiful hotel at an ideal location, easy walk to all amenities, on arrival you are hit with an amazing scent, this hotel smells amazing! Great bar, the rooms are a good size and well equipped. Staff helpful, well positioned to see all of lake garda

Faded glamour, with a hefty emphasis on 'Faded' Sadly I don't think I've ever been as disappointed with a hotel I have spent this much money on. The hotel was clearly once beautiful, but is many years (probably decades) past its best. The check in welcome was not a good start as we drove here and the unclear instructions about where to park whilst we unloaded left us anxious about getting towed. The receptionist didn't seem to care about this at all. The interiors are really shabby and, in places, smelly. The bathroom felt like bits of it might fall off at any point. the hairdryer seemed like it was from the 1970s Breakfast is good when they bother to fill the buffet items up (over 30 minute wait for bacon this morning) They also charge extra for setting up a cot in the room, which I've not experienced in a room costing＞ $200 before. Let alone $300. Best avoided

This is my third stay in Mayer and Splendid, a postponed trip due to family illness and bereavement. It has been very disappointing, with the more personal service of previous stays all but gone. The room we booked (a junior suite) had no comfortable furniture in it, and only one set of toiletries were provided for a nine day visit. The room was clean and staff did ensure it was freshened every day, however only minimal replenishment to coffee, tea and fridge items. It’s a shame but I won’t be returning to this hotel when next in Desenzano.

As the last leg of our 2 week italian grand tour, for our special anniversary we paid for an upgrade to a junior suite with lake view and balcony, described on the website as "elegantly finished and ideal for couples who love a romantic and sophisticated atmosphere". Our experience lacked the "refined furniture and delightful view of the lake in the harbour." The safe deposit box was broken and when we complained that we had paid for an upgrade and requested another room the manager informed the receptionist the hotel was full and our room (116) was classed as a junior suite. Our tour operator has tried to get a full explanation on our return to UK, but the hotel manager was arrogant and defensive then ignored further enquiries. The photographs included are more realistic than those on the hotel website, which misled us to have expectations of luxury and relaxation. Our balcony was too small to sit out on, and the view was spoiled by the dirty wall and air con units with pigeon excrement. Our room was the lord byron superior room (with a large open space) in the website photos, but the manager specified that 116 is a suite was 2 large (sparce ) adjoining rooms with 2 bathrooms.
